Description
A character I discovered on the job--I know little about him beyond that he seems to be a mascot for summer camp or VBC materials. Perhaps he's made an appearance at your camp!Sparks (c) 2008 Awana Clubs Interantional

I don't recognize him myself... but I've never been to Summer Camp, so that might be why.
Well done on the pic btw~

Thanks! I've both attended and taught at VBCs in my time, and this card is my first exposure to Sparks as well. Of course, he seems relatively new...

Hah--well, I *really* appreciate that, since I kinda had a moving target for a model. (He's on one of those lenticular-effect cards.)
Seoul, eh? How's the weather? My brother was stationed in the army there for about a year or so.

wow! it looks very familiar and yet very foreign as well! almost like Jack Skelington stole Jiminy Cricket's wardrobe. ? ugh being sleepy make strange things come out of my mouth. Dig his expression and the dots really seem to put the piece into perspective. i wish i could shade like you...

Well, in regards to shading, folks who are more handy with the "Photoshop"-like applications can probably show you more efficient ways to do it, but I prefer the old fashioned way. Heh--I hadn't considered the Jack Skellington look; I suppose reverse eyeball colors will do that! I have a couple of original character groups in which Sparks would fit nicely--too bad he's not mine.
Anyway, thanks for faving him!

Ah, but with photoshop there are so many many ways to shade that i rarely can do the same technique twice. I like the way that you do it traditionally, as it shows your clear understanding of what's enough and what's too much.
for some reason that escapes me, 'A Nightmare Before Xmas' merchandise is everywhere you look on the streets of Seoul, which is probably why i thought of that, looking at him now, he seems more of a snowman or the Michelin Man's son or something , but still i suspect you drew him better than the original.
