The body of a kidnapped ten year old schoolgirl has been found in a suitcase in a flat on Gauteng's East Rand.

Marissa Naidoo was kidnapped from Benoni's Primary School on Thursday. North Rand police say the kidnapper died after trying to evade arrest. Perumal Naidoo, the Gauteng provincial commissioner for the South African Police Service (SAPS), says the kidnapper demanded R500 000 ransom from Marissa's father for her safe return.

Investigations led the detectives to a flat in Radio City, Benoni yesterday morning. Police forced their way into the flat, and found the body of Marissa in the suitcase. On arrival, a man in his late thirties jumped from the 3rd floor building. He died shortly afterwards.

Marissa's body was found in a suitcase in Rampersadh's Benoni flat. It appears she died of suffocation.

Marissa was laid to rest yeterday.
