I wish I had, like, livestreamed this, because I literally drew the whole thing, from scratch, in about 5 hours in Photoshop. I sat at my computer, wanting to do art, and this is what came of it. An idea that literally translated itself exactly how I wanted it to. It was kind of amazing...*megoomba 's Dungeons & Dragons character, Lae'estril, being all emo and symbolic. I, and my character Zak, have been having a love/hate relationship with Lae'estril for the past several months. Mostly love, some hate... it's kind of epic... But in all of her darkness, there is a glimmer of hope for our little drow sorceress... and this is the depiction of that.

Okay! Time for a proper comment! First of all, HOLY WOW!! This was such a great surprise... !! I had no idea what you were going to draw when you txted me last night, but this is definitely the best thing EVER!! I should really post my drawing of what her mask looks like, but you got it pretty close! My idea is way more decorative and much less functional, but this is really pretty! I LOVE the textures you used on the silver and how it looks almost war torn with all the scratches, you know? SYMBOLISM~~ *WAVES ARMS* I also love how much SHAPE the mask has! The shading is just spot on! I especially love the highlights around her browline and it just gives it so much SHAPE!! I will probably be referencing this when I draw her with her mask on more so it doesn't end up looking like a flat paper on her face or something. It's metal, after all!!
I also REALLY love the way you coloured her eyes. Like, her expression is almost completely unreadable. But her eyes have this look in them like she KNOWS what she needs to do, even if the rest of her is confused and lost and drowning in grief for everything she thinks she's lost. I also love how there's a little bit of violet reflection in them! Like the purple in her eyes and her lips are the only real colour in the whole piece...! MORE SYMBOLISM~~~
Man, what else to say except that I LOVE IT!! I LOVE IT SO MUCH!! And on a side (somewhat selfish) note I'm glad you (and Zak, but mostly you) mostly love Lae with only some hate. It's nice to know that even when she's all kinds of messed up, she's still a likable character at some level because... I love her bunches and bunches and as worried as I am about her, I just have this feeling like I know she's gonna get out of this and come screaming back with all the badassery that I KNOW she has if she can just learn to stop loathing herself and... yeah. You know what I'm trying to say <3 <3 <3
