Taking a little time to finish a piece from a project series started last year with more from one of my favourite films, The Fifth Element. This has been a real 'off and on' again project. After doing 4 other pictures from the film last year I started this but wasn't in the mood to finish it at the time so I put it to one side. I've come back to it through the last few months, doing a little bit here.
Wanting to push myself a little more, I thought it was time to tackle a two character piece and that damn 'multipass' scene just jumped in there. Not entirely happy with the layering on their faces but just couldn't get quite the right light shade and in the end just said 'To hell with it - time for a little artistic license' - lol. I think maybe just my enthusiasm for this one just wasn't there are the time but my need to finish the project had me coming back to get it sorted. So, finally completed. I'm wondering if my Korben / Vito piece will ever get beyond the sketch stage!
Done with polychromos pencils and built up in layers, utilising my pressure application and layering techniques, the picture consists of 32 colours.
Korben's eyes were done with white, dark sepia and bistre.
His eyebrows were done with caput mortuum and dark sepia.
His nose was done with white, light flesh, dark sepia and brown ochre (light).
His mouth was done with white, medium flesh, light flesh, dark sepia and brown ochre (light).
His ear was done with white, light flesh, brown ochre (light) and burnt umber.
His skin was done with white, ivory, medium flesh, light flesh, dark sepia, brown ochre (light), warm grey 4 and burnt umber.
His hair was done with white, raw umber and burnt umber.
His clothes were done with white, light orange, scarlet red, bistre, brown ochre (light), black, cold grey 6, warm grey 1, warm grey 4 and warm grey 5.
Leeloo's eyes were done with white, may green, dark sepia and warm grey 1.
Her eyebrows were done with dark sepia.
Her nose was done with white, medium flesh, light flesh black and burnt umber.
Her mouth was done with white, medium flesh, light flesh, dark sepia and brown ochre (light).
Her skin was done with white, medium flesh, light flesh, dark sepia, brown ochre (light), warm grey 4 and burnt umber.
Her hair was done with white, cream, cadmium orange, light orange, dark orange, dark sepia and Van Dyck brown.
Her clothes were done with white, ivory, cadmium orange, dark orange, Van Dyck brown and nougat.
The multipass was done with white, light orange, scarlet red, light flesh, magenta, blue violet, dark sepia, light ochre, black and warm grey 4.
The floor was done with dark sepia, sanguine and warm grey 3.
Finally, the garbage wall was done with white, cream, medium flesh, magenta, violet, light phthalo blue, light blue, dark indigo, caput mortuum, raw umber, black, warm grey 3, warm grey 4 and warm grey 5.

"Multipass."

I really like how you did her eyes and the background on this one!

"You have 5 points left on your license." <---I love how it works down to none.

We're all doing it - lol
Thanks. The eyes were a little heavy but the light and shadow on her face was difficult to get just right so I settled for a two-toned layer of dark sepia.

After sliding around this morning on the ice, I have no points left on my license - lol

It must be b/c of the scene you chose! LOL!!!

And it works well! If I look REALLY closely...I can kinda see the individual strokes of the pencils. But then, I have the computer up to my nose too.

Oh no! Yuck! I hate ice! Unless it's in a cold drink on a summer's day!

Didn't you get the weather emergency points upgrade? I thought it was supposed to come standard with all Force vehicles.

It's stuck in the geek consciousness

Well, if you enlarge any of my images you can see all the pencil lines which is whey they look best from a distance.

No more snow or ice now - all gone over the weekend.
Nope, we use our own vehicles so we get nothing.

Izzy4anime In reply to Starfire-Productions [2018-03-07 03:03:29 +0000 UTC]

True.

But that's what's fascinating about them! Photo or scene stills from a distance and from closeup you can truly appreciate the amount of work you do on these!

Did you send it my way then? It's been snowing off and on all day here.

That's truly evil...O.O oh yeah! Sith!

That said, when I turn pictures into 11x14 posters for my wall, they come out really well.
Yeah, you can see the pencil marks but it sort of works on that scale.
I love my Lagertha above my monitor

Starfire-Productions In reply to TJANGEL20202 [2018-03-01 10:06:58 +0000 UTC]

Well, realism isn't for everybody.
These days people just say they'd rather take a picture.
I just really enjoy the details and all the little colour changes between layers.
Definitely makes things more fun for me.

TJANGEL20202 In reply to Starfire-Productions [2018-03-01 18:52:06 +0000 UTC]

it is indeed. and i know. now photography is good. but its not like making your own world i think. and oh i know that feeling. its amazing and it really does make it very interesting and id say more lively

Each to their own I guess.
Nothing will stop me doing the type of things I love so I'll just keep on going
For me, I'd rather have the art. It's more 'personal' than a print.

It's okay, not as good as the others but I think because it's been and 'on and off' project it's not flowed as easily.
A lot of layering problems but people seem to like it so I guess that's okay then.
