Hi Everyone!So I was doing references for other people as well after doing an update to Dove (as I wanted to test him out first) but I REALLY wanted to update Silphie here, she was desperately needing a redraw to fit my new style. (I'm eyeing potentially Claire next). I desperately needed this done by Anime North 2018 and fortunately I got it out, though my printer had some issues so I had to delay uploading it to sort those out!
Now... I just want to say I'm thrilled with how this turned out! This ref was actually requested the most out of all of the refs I presented, so I was absolutely thrilled by my progress here. Additionally this was super fun to draw and I got to apply a lot of what I learned in the last two years onto this, and I'm really really happy with this! I even got her equipment fit right in here and decided to do a few upgrades!
Plus... I think even my doodles got better as well, I was really happy to add other characters into those.So in short, same thing as last time. Silphie's my first OC, she's basically a guardian angel of kingdoms who are so far gone that they lost the hero to protect them, so she's gotta step in and either hold out until another hero turns up or resolve the situation herself somehow. I love using this character in games where there is no protagonist or "no hero" that is canon.
Over all a super goody two-shoes with a serious problem with using technology, but it's all in the profile. The old reference can be found here:

I really liked how this one turned out! I absolutely love concept arts and reference pieces, they always make me want to draw the character haha
I loved how you made her kind of a "battle" version of Dove! It's really interesting how they feel they "work at the same place", while also feeling like totally different characters.
~I may end up drawing her later, tbh~

This... was a MASSIVE UPDATE, the first OC sheet I ever created and definitely an update that was well deserved to an important character!
I'm super happy! I'm actually really glad the art came out nicely and well... if you like reference pieces, I'm just gonna tease this... stay tuned! 
That's actually really true! Silphie and Dove are actually two characters that are quite similar in values but vastly different in their skillsets!

Your style surely has improved for better! I love this new style you're going with, it looks quite professional and anime-y in comparison with your old style that looks more chibi!
The reference is full with information, that makes us know the character better, which is really nice. The small sketches you did also break the whole lot of text, while filling us with more information!

Oh thank you very much!!! This is great to hear as I've been hearing from a few people that my style is getting better I'm really discovering that what they say is true, it's all about practice.
The info comes from a lot of playing around with "what people want to know" versus "what's interesting to think about". Oh the doodles are sometimes my favourite part! I could do a whole page of them honestly!

I love the explanation here. Also love all those details in her dress ("sky-dyed"? Cool) and her weapons.
I noticed her shield is "sky" in French, so is her sword then "ground"?

Good catch! Her shield means "sky" or "heaven" in french so that is why it bears a star-cross. As for her sword "Sol" it is the latin name for the sun.

Well, all kinds of stuff sounds interesting about her. Like how she's the polar opposite of Dove when it comes to technology. And also, she breaks stereotypes....in being an angel who's inept at harp playing!
Curious, on her legs...are they stockings, leggings, tights, pants, or something else?
Also, yes...."Sol" is Sun in Latin, Spanish, and Portuguese. Just so confusing that the French word for Ground is also "Sol" from the Latin word "soli" which is where we get "soil", also used in the legal term "Jus Soli" or "Right of the soil" a concept that people born in a country are automatically citizens of it (both Canada and the USA have it, Japan famously DOES NOT, they have Jus Sanguiniss or "right of blood" only)

Thank you again! I actually remember creating her to be a bit of an unorthodox angel, though really both Dove and her can be considered kind of unique in their own ways.
Lol! That was a fun thing to add about the harp playing, as she's a bit of a dreamer who figured she might be immediately good at the harp when she became an angel... even though in her previous life she had no musical experience, training (or to be honest) innate talent in the past. As we all know, we really only get better by properly practicing.
Those on her legs would be long stockings but honestly any interpretation is pretty cool too.
