What? Me making my own lineart in my own style for a character thats on tv?
The base may be made to be a spinel but i make my bases so they arent explicitly that character. If i included the official outfit and hair and features then yes. It would be illegal be kind of illegal because id basically be selling their character without color. But. Since i only drew the body. Gloves and hairline. It is still open and can be customized to look completely different than spinel.
Bases are made to give a pillar for other artists to adjust and build on. My base is a pillar for a certain body type. But it can be adjusted. And i made it to be that way.
There are plenty if artists who make and sell bases with the body types and facial types of canon characters. But they are not selling the character itsseld. Juat the basic mold for it. Its not illegal. Just a tool to help some artists who may struggle with that style or not want to draw an original body repeatedly. And as you can see. Its very different from the original show style and is nowhere near a screenshot trace. Its my own original style and base. (There are people who sell bases made from screenshots but for me thats kust kind of pointlessL)
So no. Selling an original base of a character in a show is not illegal. Especially if it does not have the characters design and specific features

However, fan art tends to fall into a "special" category, where if it isn't being sold and is staying on the fan groups, then many artists look the other way. However, they reserve the right to restrict and prosecute this type of copyright infringement, just like any other, if they choose." and you used some of the portion and you are selling them. so i dont really get it

its not as though i traced it (which would be an actual portion of existing work since its literally just a redraw of an existing piece) this is not

there are hundreds if not thousands of artists on here
selling ACTUAL traced bases so why attack me on my hand drawn base ????

i have too much on my plate to be attacked by some stranger for line art with some legal mumbo jumbo i dont understand and has never been an issue for me before

Coming in accusing my art of being illegal definitely feels like an attack. And to bring in a random website trying to prove me wrong is rude and honestly unnecessary.
Why go around "pointing out" why people shouldnt sell or make the art they want if not to be rude about it.
