Shjinji has a simple design so he's pretty easy to draw haha.Finally got around to watching Evangelion a couple weeks ago. Yeaahhh am I slow to the party or what?

I really like Shinji in this one. Smiles really do him justice. ^_^
As an unrelated note, I find him and Orihime Inoue from Bleach a bit similar, since they're both often bashed by the fanbase for being a bit too whiny. And thus that led to them being a nice crossover pairing in my eyes.

Well, i don't think it's the fanbase that hates them, i think it's coming from people who watch Naruto, Naruto Shippuden, DBZ, or TTGL. I told my Narutard friends about Evangelion and they said they wouldn't watch it because they think Shinji's a weak whiny emo kid. I respect opinions, but it pisses me off they don't understand how much shit poor Shinji went through.

It also surprises me how much people like the other characters, despite the fact that they are the most hypocritical and have no right to lecture Shinji based on what we've seen about them. For people who so claim that they're fine, they certainly have a backwards way of showing it!

I recently rewatched Eva for the first time since middle school, and I was surprised at how much I liked Shinji this time around. Like, I thought he was the most annoying thing ever when I was 14, but now I just want to give the poor kid a cuddle. :<

Yeah, I really liked his character a lot. He just felt so realistic to me. I imagine a lot of people (including myself) would be the same way if they were put into that kind of position at such a young age.

The original series or the Rebuild movies? 'Cause I will feel sorry for you having to go through Shinji's whiny emotional shit through it. His personality was improved in the new movies, thank God. xD

I watched both but I preferred and saw the original series first. I didn't care for Rebuild that much tbh, it was too watered down for my tastes. I did enjoy seeing Shinji go badass in it though haha.

Oh yeah, the first series will always be special. Except for the ending, that was a bunch of trolling random wtf bullshit. And the movies weren't any better.
