Description This is a manip I made after staring into static on my T.V.
It was weirding me out. What if life was really as random and confused as static on the television.
We are all but shadows walking through the digital noise of the world.

TV noise..
My tv has much bigger noise size. But I guess the important thing is the idea here : )
I like the idea of those ghostly people walking in a world built with tv noise. very interesting : )

This is weird! I really looks like tv screen may be when the connection is bad. The black and white points disturb me, but I quess that's the point. The composition is very good. Interesting picture.

That's a very interesting effect.. I like how the people are blurred out a bit, like they're only halfway there.

tasty image dude, well done with this.. the blurring gives a feeling of movement and the grainy black and whiteness gives it this retro noir type vibe on it.
it gives an impression of a faded memory.

i think the border is too much for this image.. maybe you should choose just a black border

An amazing photo manipulation (: i'm totally in love with this picture. the blur effectively gives a distinct touch.

I don't get it. What do you mean what if? Life is very random. Maybe not so much confused, but the fact that you have almost constant interactions with other people over whom you have no control is such a strong source of randomness.

anyway, you really did a good job with the manipulation and capturing the feeling that it seems you wanted to get.

I love the concept.

The image is creepy and surreal. But it was also well done. It doesn't look like a photo manipulation - though that's what it is. Seamless and intriguing.

this reminds me of the movie The Ring, where the people's faces come out all distorted on photos... very creepy, and a interesting idea with the whole TV static thing... most people probably wouldn't be caught dead actually staring at static on the TV, so congrats

Two days ago, I was on your side and was taking a look on this picture.
Didn't commented it cause you got allready the best comments on it.
Just can say that you have found the perfect title for this picture.
It is just a great idea and a good work in b&w.

The description completed this masterpiece. This theory or hypothesis is interestingly thoughtout. Now you are making me wondering.

The border could use some work but this is just amazing.

I like the effects alot ^^ Really looks like they vanishing while walking away... Uing black and white really points out feelings and gives a very sad atmosphere to this manip ! Maybe you should refine the borders cause it doesn't look like the rest of the pic, or maybe make it less outstanding... In fact, something bothers me with the borders

A picture with that much chaos in the pixels needs a bounding border I find.
Of coarse the border will never equal up the the actual photo but I find it works for this manip.
I dont like big borders much either, just enough to define the picture
Thanx for your input

no pb ! ^^ I didn't meant to put a bigger border, but i thought it would be good to try to integrate it more into the picture... I'm a very bad explainer...

I like where you went with this. THe only thing that I really notice about this is that the people have this halo around them, asnd everything in the halo doesn't seem to have as much static as everything else.

Other than that, I really like this. Keep it up.

I think this is very cool. I think you achieved the effecct you wanted so I don't think there is much that can improve it. Something that might be a cool experiment though would be to take a long exposure really stopped down (f22) on a high iso. And then take a normal photo of the same thing and layer the two. The noise on the long exposure might be kinda neat against the regular photo and the blending between em. Just a thought

Have you ever seen the movie "White Noise"? It's based on exactly what you're talking about. Watch it.

Anyway, great idea and execution -- up close it really does look like the white static on the television. This is very original, so there is not much suggestion that I can give. My only thought was that the people in the forground stand out from the picture quite a bit. The scenery around them is very grainy and garbled, but the figures are more clear. From the haze you included, I figured that this was deliberate, that they were supposed to be seperated. It struck me though that maybe they should be a little bit more staticy in order to blend with the rest of the image.

It's nice to see such a creative idea when a good deal of deviantartwork these days is all the same. Nice work.

Yeah, it's not a particularly good movie, not one of my favorites, but it is based completely on this principal, so it might interest you. I thought the movie was interesting.

The blury figurs and static nois effect reminds me of the movie "the Ring" (cool movie, BTW)
It's a wide picture, like a movie screen, not like a TV screen. (and that's about the worst I can say about this picture)

That's quite a gloomy vision you present here.
Though it's still alot clearer than the picture on my TV (I watch 2 shows simultaneously while hearing a third! Can your TV do that? )
