I've had a lot of questions in the past about how I did my makeup for Drocell Cainz (aka creepy puppet dude) so I decided to make a tutorial instead of repeating myself.

I hope you will find it helpful. This is the easy-peasy version of how to do his makeup. I have a slightly different routine, but this will get you by. I listed the products that I used with each step as well as their costs. Really the only "splurge" products I recommend investing in would be a good foundation and something decent to set your makeup with (I used mid-range mineral setting powder).

One mistake makeup newbies make is believing that you HAVE to buy MAC, Lorac, or other higher-end makeups right from the get-go or investing in such low-end products designed basically for little girls play that it will not deliver decent results. So, to start off, aim for the low-middle to middle so you can work with something decent but not make your pockets bleed money as you practice. You can always add higher end makeup to your collection as you go along and get more proficient in working with makeup.

Why was I using low-mid range makeup? To show that you can easily do cosplay makeup without spending a ton of money. In fact, with good primer and setting powder, I have found that you can easily extend the lasting power of most el-cheapo makeup found in drugstores. Dependent on weather, I may not even need to do a touchup all day. Mileage may vary depending on your skin type, weather conditions, etc.

BTW: Essence brand cosmetics (I found it at Ulta) seems to be a pretty decent bang for your buck type of product line. Their eyeshadows are pretty vibrant, eyeliners do not smudge, and their products are generally under $6.00. Seems pretty rad to me.

So I hope this will help other Drocell cosplayers out there with their makeup. It is very easy to go overboard with his makeup (e.g. eyeshadow up to the eyebrows which I have seen several times) but in all honestly, a little bit of color goes a long way. Have fun, ask any questions if something was not clear, and most of all, keep it real.
