Description This was redone from the original [link]
An additional 80hrs approx were spent on this 18"X24" canvas print including all the hrs looking at it while going along.

This is the first post---a stand alone version. It will be posted in a 2 left---2 right---4 left and right---an 8 section and finally the pretty big 16 panel. Without enlarging would need a 6X8 ft canvas to produce. I'm happy with this---there's so much in it---the fuller versions have a ton. For those of you that are into this---enjoy---it has alot of fun stuff.

I see a bird (ostrich) as the main focus. He is wearing shades & there is something very relaxing yet powerful in his stance. I also see snakes, carnival masks, eyes, a set of lips and even a baby crocodile. gorgeous work!

thank you so much. They are truly journey's. Some works have hundreds of images. When you see them in person they suck you in. It's beyond me even.

I really enjoy it---and I think you would like it too---don't know. Since you haven't worked it you see new possibilities---colors---etc----you can take them in other directions---and you have years more drawing experience and eye training.
Some day? Ah---you'll never do it. Take one out and just try a few lines---etc----if you like it you will finish---maybe not that day---but you will once ur hooked on it

I most definitely prefer this side up than the other one. This one just looks right to me for some reason. Love the use of the stylized lips in this - reminds me somewhat of female lips. And I believe I see dragons, lots of them ^_^ Very nice as always. I really do like your use of colours - they are always so vivid and eye catching!

why thank you---and yes---you like the original view versus the upside down. I post other views for the different images--but the way it was drawn/painted usually is the favored way. Thanks again

why thank you. I appreciated the compliment By the way---I've told a few more Improvisational Artists about Improvasational Artists lol.
Another thing I must do. Give the best definition I can about the way I see it---and how the term fits the art so well. I would start a site here like that---but I really don't know if I'd have the time to run it---and I don't know how much time it would require in the first place.
Would love to start rounding up all the artists that I feel fit this term---wouldn't that be exciting----all in one place---all artists that are in this style---that would be so cool---BUT??? Time---time---time. I'm so busy now I barely squeeze in this DA---and now---I'm not drawing/painting at all coz I'm painting my home 10 hrs a day.

This is just fantastic, stunning. When you get all the panels together, what an amazing thing it will be. This needs to be shown somewhere, has to hang in a public place for many to look at and enjoy.

I can really see that in an open, spacious art gallery, or in a sparsely furnished, glassed-in, elegant granite and stainless steel lobby of a big building. I can see the mural holding it all together visually, and people stopping to study it.

I really mean those words. I do hope you can get your work out there for all to see in person, not just digitally!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Stepbeyond In reply to desmo100 [2006-07-15 06:05:20 +0000 UTC]

I know---it's in the works. I kept my art hidden for too many years---I have to do it now---I realize how much people would enjoy these in person---especially the large ones---so different then on here.

I never planned to use the net to get my art out there---it just sort of happened that I ended up on a site like this. Also---it's a pretty well known fact that the web is not exactly the best place to sell ur art---in fact---it's probably the worst. Believe me---I'm not on da to make money---nor would I expect much from any internet gallery.
If you offer a service for artists---or some other specialty in the art field you can do well---but to sell art itself you have to get it out there for people to see---touch----and a host of other things. Just the way it is----no one has convinced me otherwise to date.
I'm going to try and do the next "Javits Center Art Show" in NYC. Now that's exposure---buyers from all over the world. Should be real interesting. I'm good friends with a woman that attended many of these as a seller for a large company----she knows the ropes---and wants to set it up with me---we'll see. I'll let you know when my art is out there---nomatter what it is---not just the Javits Center.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

desmo100 In reply to Stepbeyond [2006-07-15 22:14:35 +0000 UTC]

WOW! The Javits Center is BIG TIME! I do hope you make it, because I really believe you could be a hit. You're right about selling art. It makes sense that posting art for sale on DA's site is just selling to other artists, really. That's not the best audience to go for, is it? People DO want to have that gallery experience, to see, touch, walk around, discuss...that's part of our being human, I think.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Stepbeyond In reply to desmo100 [2006-07-17 03:48:24 +0000 UTC]

ur so right of course. Artists? Not exactly the market to sell art Yes---we will buy art---but like I said---this and gallery sites are really the worst way to sell ur art. That's my opinion anyway.

Now if you know some one---are the favored few---ur art is constantly in front of people---pushed----etc on sites. It's just the way it is. Friends---up there folk---the right people----politics----etc---- is alive and well on these sites which is only normal. But if you're not in this company??

Now if you're a colorer---line expert---teacher of some system---etc----that's the other way to make a mark on the web. Products and services for the artist---makes sense--I'm sure ur aware of some of the folks doing it----and that's fine. Free sites all over the web have been getting potential customers for years with them. Yahoo is a good example. Works the same with all size sites and with many different products. Now think about some of this and maybe you can make alittle more money from ur efforts.

Usually I don't explain anything with marketing on a site like this---but ur comment just brought this out---and so be it

Those are very interesting observations, and from what I can tell, absolutely true. Makes a lot of sense.

Stepbeyond In reply to desmo100 [2006-07-18 04:49:29 +0000 UTC]

yes---it's pretty much on the mark---but it would take a large volume to get into detail about it all. Simply put---it's marketing. If you're looking to make decent money with your art the more you learn the better. If you can't stand the thought of marketing/selling your own work---then maybe an agent is the way to go---but that's another whole story and a whole new set of do's and don'ts lol The market is huge and many areas within it. Who is your market? What type of people do you attract to your art? How many avenues can your art take? Know what I mean. There's no sense targeting the wrong market for your work.

You really know the ropes, it sounds like. I've never liked sales at all. I'm kind of a non-people-person, if you know what I mean. I'm pretty happy being a hermit, truth be told.

Stepbeyond In reply to desmo100 [2006-07-19 05:53:03 +0000 UTC]

I'm not crazy about it either---I might go with an agent. I'm not crazy about it---but I simply don't have the time to do it all---just don't---too much going on all the time

I'm busy, too. People have this idea that retirees don't do anything but lie out in the sun and drink beer. Wrong! I have never been busier in my life, and I worked full-time, non-stop for 31 years. But now, there are SO many things to do...chores AND fun stuff...that I never have enough time to do them all. I figure, hey, I'm 62, I'm not gonna live forever. It's time to do things I want to do now, not later. At my age, it's all about time.

sure---I understand. A guy once told me "you think ur busy now---wait till you retire" lol. It's true. All those things you put off for years---the work/home/people/etc. All of a sudden ones shedule is jam packed with to do's I understand---no---sitting around idly---I know better lol

Its not even funny how many different faces ands figures i see from this, i also think of like a prophecy where almost everyone dies from a fire or something like that. I know---I know. Missing something is an understatement---especially art like this---in person it's a whole different experience---and the images take on different looks. I average viewing them from 8 to 12 feet back---sometimes 15 to 20 in low light----all the illussions come out. The 16 panel version will be on a 6X8 ft canvas--- Little different from the 4X6" or 3X5" we see here lol. Just not the same. Sure it's the same with urs---ur so right.
