I love it. Thank you. Why would I mind. Good for you on your exhibition. I should have done one a long time ago. You know how many of my pieces look in person? Framed beautifully. Praise Horns is 4ftX4FT in a gogeous gold frame with a black border around the print. It belongs in a nightclub or a large wall. I have another big piece in my living room, or else I'd put it there. The original is hanging in the performance Center at my local high School

some of my friend they also have to do this kind of drawing, and one picture costs them several days even weeks... So I start wonder how long time u need to spend on each of ur drawing
Very nicely done

Stepbeyond In reply to TrixieLonestar [2006-11-02 06:08:06 +0000 UTC]

thank you very much

The paintings are the most time consuming. My recent post--Discovery--Pipe Dreams took over 200 hrs. However---it works very good every which way.

Horn birds--the single work---took about 30 hrs. It was a pen and Ink on a 9x12 paper.

Horn Birds 4P you saw was mirrored on the side and below---that's why I say 4P---meaning 4 panels---or 4 of itself.

I take credit for the piece in that the mirrors are identical drawings---my work and style---expanded---and the centers created are quite wild---however---I can't take credit for doing the whole thing you saw by hand although my work (Original Horn Birds I posted about a year ago) is what you are seeing multiplied.

You might be interested in going into my gallery and look at the first pieces of art I was posting. None were drawn with mirroring in mind---it just happened because my style was perfect for this. Horn Birds--the single work---is still my favorite over the mirrors of it although I do think there really wild.

Mad Man Sax---the original took about 40--50 hrs on 14x17 paper---and I love the single mirror version too---Smokin Mad Man Sax

So how did I do in explaing this?

I love all the insane details in the larger view, but the overall composition in the smaller view is killer!!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Stepbeyond In reply to yakiroba [2006-10-12 05:28:25 +0000 UTC]

why thank you---that's probably coz you see all the characters that are in these---hundreds at the least---then flip it to the right and it starts all over again---it would be like a new pen and ink for years---would keep revealing itself. I know---I experience these all the time---well of course lol

MaliciousMisery [2006-09-26 19:00:58 +0000 UTC]

another nifty black and white one some how seems even more detailed :3

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Stepbeyond In reply to MaliciousMisery [2006-09-29 04:10:26 +0000 UTC]

lol yes Horn Birds---since I play the sax has always been a fav for me---I posted the single work almost a year ago. Now lol Of course it looks more detailed---it's 4 panels of itself. Seems most of my work mirrors so perfectly because the way their done----and 20 tile work (a different art school) I doubt I would've drawn like I do if I hadn't gone through that---this whole art thing was planned---not by me---many years ago. You can guess who I'm talking about. I'm not alittle sure---I'm positive

MaliciousMisery In reply to Stepbeyond [2006-10-01 21:11:22 +0000 UTC]

Hmm it is really weird how all your stuff mirrors perfectly ;3. pretty neat though cus they are like new pieces when you mirror them :3.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Stepbeyond In reply to MaliciousMisery [2006-10-02 06:02:04 +0000 UTC]

that's really a simple one when you think about it as I did. 20 years of tile work lol A different art school. My brain just works that way---that's the reason they go together so well. Granted--many abstracts---line works---etc can look good mrrored---but if they don't have a rock solid piece---that to me is a gimmick---making something out of realitively nothing---kow what I mean?

👍: 0 ⏩: 0

gensanity [2006-09-20 12:40:58 +0000 UTC]

thats pretty damn cool man

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Stepbeyond In reply to gensanity [2006-09-21 03:39:21 +0000 UTC]

thank you very much. Since I play sax this is one of my all time favorites---please see the stand alome Horn Birds [link] --I never thought of mirroring any of these---they were created to be complete works of art by themselves---that's what I meant by my own rules for using the mirroring thing. It must be an awesome piece as is---otherwise I won't use mirroring to make something so much more then it is----they must floor me as is---all my pieces are created that way.

Another great mirror. I keep thinking its about to start moving like in a collidascope.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Stepbeyond In reply to dragontech22 [2006-09-15 06:07:23 +0000 UTC]

lol---I know. You realize the work I did with each one of the pen and inks (forget the mirroring) was a real pain at times. Many hours--frustrations---details went into them---that's why (in my opinion) work so well mirrored and look like they do. I will never use it as a gimmick---otherwise I'd stop doing it completely---know what I mean? Mad Man Sax---standing alone took about 70 hrs---it deserves to look awesome mirrored---alot of work went into that piece. I also almost ruined it and had to work through that or it would've never been posted at all

My style--- (and I'm not about to change that) has always been drawning off the page ---cut off parts of something usuallyand extend patters/designs to the end of the paper/canvas--- nuerotic about the geometrics---and---lol---seem to fill almost all of a working area---throw in the details---details---and more details---sometimes I could scream

Yess but all hard work pays off. And as long as your happy with it, thats what matters.

yakiroba [2006-09-15 02:53:17 +0000 UTC]

whew!! at first I didn't realize it was a mirrored piece! I was afraid that maybe you broke your mind getting everything perfect! makes for a beautiful composition!!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Stepbeyond In reply to yakiroba [2006-09-15 05:54:06 +0000 UTC]

yes---lol---matching it exactly would just about do ones mind in---however--lol---Horn Birds--Mad Man Sax (the stand alone originals) were all worked on many hours for the details. Being in the tile business for many years made me just a bit nuerotic with details They certainly hold there own by themselves and were created that way---they must do that or I won't use mirroring as a gimmick.

fractionalself [2006-09-14 20:01:49 +0000 UTC]

Such a strong work, and it takes the mirroring extremely well, creating a composition in which depth and design counter symmetry to create a textured image. The larger sections, of lighter shading on the top and bottom toward the center really frame this piece nicely, while the central vertical and horizontal lines are quite varied from each other and, while this feels like a complete piece, insure that it isn't too matchy-matchy. Solid work... very cool.

Stepbeyond In reply to Digital-Kisses [2006-09-17 06:14:20 +0000 UTC]

oh it is. I've played it for many years. It emulates the human voice probably better then any instrument. I love playing it with a pipe organ---talk about singing----tone---just incredable. I love soloing with musicians although I've done the 60 pc band thing too---that is so much fun

Digital-Kisses In reply to Stepbeyond [2006-09-17 07:14:56 +0000 UTC]

Sounds awesome I don't play any instruments but i've been told my voice isn't bad

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Stepbeyond In reply to Digital-Kisses [2006-09-18 15:51:42 +0000 UTC]

that's great---your voice is the best instrument going. I never thought I could sing---about 8 years ago I was asked too sing for a for a choir practice. I said I would just watch---not sing---been singing ever since and love it. My voice has improved quite a bit---I have good power--I guess from the horn.

Now youuuuuu lol Sing---I don't care where---start singing every day---15 minutes. I have a great book on singing---will give you a few. VERY IMPORTANT!! you probably know it already---sing from the diaphram---get that air down so you can feal your stomach moving out---not your shoulders rising (they shouldn't move at all) You get your power and tone from the diaphram---head tones---getting the tone more from that area---is to be used accordingly ---but it's all the diaphram.

Tell me more about your voice---you ever sing----etc--etc. My absolute passion is music---would love to hear about your thoughts on singing maybe---even for yourself. We have so much as far as back up music--etc. I'll be waiting your reply

PS Once you have range--power--and confidence (I don't know where you are now with it) You will just love it----it's just so cool---it's hard to explain

Digital-Kisses In reply to Stepbeyond [2006-09-18 18:39:58 +0000 UTC]

My grandfather used to an Opera singer, so I grew up around people singing, my mom does thought no longer professional, I used to sing in a semi rock band when i was in my late teens early teens but my voice is very out of shape now, i know how to sing but I only sing in the car and along with the radio now.

I know all about breathing and using the stomach and how to use the diaphram but it's been so long since I really sang, the only one i sing for now is Fleur

And I love music too, i'm ALWAYS listening to it, from the moment i wake up until the moment i go to sleep there is music playing in my home, can't live without it.
