That photograph is nice but it's kind of obvious the halo was added on postproduction. Maybe I'm wrong...
Making this halo for real would look real nice (using a bouncing cobra flash for instance)

great shot but the light seems a little too overpowering when I look at it; in other words, it grabs way too much attention from the subject. I feel I understand what you are trying o achieve with the lighting but it seems to take to much interest from the viewer and does not balance well enough to create the artistic feel you intend. But I do like the image, I just wanted to say what I thought just in case it helps in any way
