Thanks, Petr! JSplacement is a free software that makes displacement maps, which are regions of lighter and darker lines that correspond to deeper and lower areas. The brighter the white, the higher the depth map. JSplacment makes the displacement maps that Mandelbulber then uses to morph a flat plane (or a fractal) and raise and lower sections of it. I used the same displacement map to make a texture for a cube, which is the cathedral-looking thing. And JSplacement also made a color map that corresponded to the height displacement map, so that raised areas all have the same color.
