Interesting! We definitely hear about Flowey turning from Pacifist to Genocide route, and even he mentioned it, but we've never seen the moment he decides to try FIGHTing. I also like how you drew the dead monster. Looks cosmic a bit

Thanks, I like my Moldsmal design too. I have seen one other comic that portrayed Flowey's journey from pacifist to sadist, but I don't see it portrayed often.

Yeah, unfortunately. But I like how you don't even show his face, so we can only guess what he's feeling in this shot. Well done.

HEY THERE FROM ProjectComment
I have seen and commented on one of your works before and if you do remember then i'll say this again, How your trying to imitate the actual style the game is in (Except for the fact that it's not pixelated) is pretty amazing! Anyways I don't play much undertale anymore but that game was one of my favorites and seeing this just gave me chills.. How curious flowey was and how he resets. BUT. I think you could've shown more of that through the artwork itself rather than the text you gave in the description.
When first clicking on this deviantation it was hard for me to know what was going on and all I could see is flowey's back and very little view of Moldsmal. If you would like the people viewing this to know what was going on in this scene perhaps instead of a backview, how about a side view of what flowey's about to do or how his expression is to show how he feels. Was he feeling guilt at the start or was he completely fine with everything?
And just maybe... Make it so we could see Moldsmal a little more.
Your shading is fine and simple, But I've got a little tip for you. When shading, don't use black! if for example your going to shade purple background like somewhere in the ruins, use a darker shade of purple, some people however use different colors for the shadow like red shading on an orange base color, Any style is alright when shading, but as much as possible, avoid using pure black! and maybe you could experiment more with layers or experiment with the tools your drawing program provides you.
The linework is very clean, but maybe make it less thicker.
And the color you used for moldsmal Is very... Unique. It could use some adjustments but I think this is very amazing!
Hope I helped in some way

Thank you very much for the well-thought-out feedback! You make some very good points.
In the comic page from which this panel comes, I did show Flowey's thought process and facial expressions through the art; maybe instead of doing a single-panel preview and putting the dialogue from the other panels in the description, I should have included several panels. That would have solved the problems you listed in your first couple paragraphs.
When it comes to the shading... oh, dear. I actually didn't use black; I used darker shades of the base color. But maybe the shade I chose was too close to black? I'm not sure. I've been told a few times to make my shading darker and bolder, but I'm still trying to find the middle ground between "the shadows are too light to be clearly visible and have the right effect" and "the shadows are dark enough that it looks like you're using black".
What kind of adjustments do you think the moldsmal's coloring needs? "could use some adjustments" is a bit too vague to learn from or act upon, I'm afraid.
Thanks again!

It's an ongoing multi-parter; you can see the first page here:
Fair warning: this story's gonna be long and brutal. I hope you like angst! (Also, the art in the early chapters won't be quite as good, since I was less experienced as an artist, so I guess you can watch the art style evolve. ^_^ ) Enjoy!

Howdy, from
Now, first of all, reading the little blurb you've left just...ooh it gives me chills in the best possible way. I'm a huge undertale fan and I think you've captured Flowey's thought process beautifully. I can practically TASTE the feeling that Flowey has exhausted every possible non-violent run, and is now realizing that Violence is the only thing he hasn't tried yet. How Flowey must feel, squaring what he probably knows is wrong against his personal desperation to experience or feel SOMETHING! As I said...it gives me chills.
Now, I know that...because of the lack of canonical overworld sprites, Moldsmal and Moldbygg have no-canon colors, but I have never ever seen a Moldsmal patterned after the night sky? I like it. It's a welcome break from the Lime Green that I've usually seen lots of artists interpret it as. Now, I can go on for literally MINUTES about the scene and story you've set up, but I just wanna give credit where it's due to the technique. I love the shadows on the back of Flowey, and the shading as a whole means you've done a good job at creating a consistent light source. My only note would be the background is a bit...well...dull. I know it's probably meant to be a recreation of the Ruins from the game, but if you really wanted to replicate the bare-bones style, you could have been the lines out of chunky squares, like pixels ^^ That would have been fun ^^
I hope you find this comment useful ^^

Thank you so much for the detailed compliments! I really love that you commented on the story and your feelings about it as well as the art itself. The story is the main point of a webcomic, after all. If you feel like going on for literally minutes, I self-indulgently invite you to go ahead and do so.
I'm glad you like the shading and my choice of color scheme for Moldsmal. Moldsmals always looked a bit starry to me - granted, that's probably just the light reflecting on them, but if I'm gonna draw a bunch of panels with this monster, might as well make them pleasant to look at.
You're right, the background is a bit dull. The chunky square look wouldn't quite fit with the rest of my style, but maybe when doing the walls of the Ruins and New Home, I should try giving them a bit of a grainy, stony texture. Thanks for the feedback!
