Burmese Python (Python molurus bivittatus) - (wikipedia [link] )
About the reproduction: "Females lay eggs (oviparous). This sets them apart from the family Boidae (boas), most of which bear live young (ovoviviparous). After they lay their eggs, females will typically incubate them until they hatch. This is achieved by causing the muscles to "shiver", which raises the temperature of the body to a certain degree, and thus that of the eggs. Keeping the eggs at a constant temperature is essential for healthy embryo development. "(Wikipedia [link] )

This is actually a Burmese Python, and they were deemed in 2009 to be a completely separate species from the Indian Python due to DNA analysis. You can tell them apart easily from that "spearhead" marking on top of the head; in the Burm, the spear point is complete, but in the Indian Python, it fades out as it nears the snout. I wonder if the eggs is the snake's, since it looks awfully small for a Burm egg. Pythons normally wrap around their eggs, so maybe this egg was defective and she rejected it. I had a Burm lay eggs, and each egg would have easily equalled four large chicken eggs!
