Samantha in all her glory! My first, and most loved OC, in full digital colors!~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Wheeee...finally.... Took FOREVER to get this one done. I tried a crapton of new techniques here. Different line weights, whole new shading style, the works!
And..... it worked out, I think.
What do you think? Comments very welcomed. I'm trying to improve.

Samantha Maltease is my oldest OC. She's gone through so many design changes over the years, even I can't count them.
In my head, she's a member of a space-faring race of reptilian humanoids, that come from a distant planet with somewhat heavier gravity than Earth's, in ginormous city sized space arks. They lost their planet a long time ago and have been a kind of listlessly wandering fleet for a few generations. They happened to catch radio signals from Earth and followed it back to Sol. Being self sufficient, and generally non- expansive(Humans think of them as having a sort of racial trait towards laziness), conflict was very short lived.
Samantha herself, was hatched shortly after that initial contact, and when she was a few years old, her parents moved to Earth and brought her along. Sam was raised mostly among the humans there, since most of her people were comfortable on their ships(and the Earth's surface is a little springy and usually too cold, except for the tropics, most of the year). Her parents got famous on Earth and worked as diplomats and translators. They even bought a home in a human neighborhood on the far suburban outskirts of Atlanta. Sam still lives there today, though her parents, now retired, stay mostly on the city ships for comfort.
She has a small dog named Chip, works for the police as a receptionist, and is not actually the odd one out on her cul du'sac. That would be the elf, Deamoni.

I seem to recall, that she had a boyfriend at some point..... but I can't remember him.
Safe to say she has her eye on a few possible prospects. She likes human guys more than her own kind. As they all tend to make fun of her weight. Being reptiles, they all are usually really skinny, even though they are lazy, as they don't store fat the way we do.

She eats well. She doesn't really exercise. All the normal reasons you get fat from. And she likes her starches and sugars(thank you early childhood in the 80's), more than lean meat proteins.
Basically its like the cultural influence of her surroundings and higher density diet of fatty stuffs made her chunky. She's a thick girl by human standards, a great whale by her own people's.

Ahhh... so her own people don't tend to eat sugars that much... well they do say that diet is more important then exercise in forming bodytype...

This. I like. It definately gives off "Casey vibes" and they come off so very strongly! I always imagine your works in this strong, saturated , bright colors, and while I'm not that familiar with Sam, this seems to suit her very well.

I put a lot into this. Every time I opened Photoshop, I experimented and tried something new, or tweaked a tool in a new way. And somehow, it came together.
I even redid her face to make an alternate. In the original version her eyes are closed. I liked this version better, so I colored it. Next up is Deamoni. Then some other characters.

You can definitely tell you're improving with your photoshop coloring. There's definite improvement between the cat-Allie and this.
Can't waaaait to see Deamoni! May we even perhaps see a, gasp, Torc?
