Description
Working on a commission for Nina Asquith-Rhenius' original character. This girl definitely has some battle scars in and out...aside from the scars on her arms , biotic implants in her face and missing ring finger she's dealing with some emotional issues as well. This is a sketch of Nina's character to develop the look and feel of her before the detailing stage.Sketched in CS4

This looks awesome! I love her outfit, and the whole image keeps with the "Mass Effect" feel.

Hey, this is a really nice one! It's weird, but what I like most is how the crowd behind her is turning out... It looks very true-to-life and gives the picture a good deal of realism...
And not to forget the perspective! I do like the angle you've chosen.
So looking forward to seeing it done. Keep up the good work!
p.s. by the way, I've noticed you start images with the greyscale... I'm curious about the coloring... You just set the layer above on "Multiply" and paint the colors?

Hey thank you , I appreciate it.
As far as coloring I create new "color" layers and then start to add different colors but honestly there's something about coloring this way in Photoshop that's weird to me. The colors always seem off when I start applying them so I end up having to adjust the layer to get the colors right.
However I'm trying Open Canvas for the coloring process on this one and I really like the results so far,the marker tool in OC is one of best tool for this. I do like the way Paint Tool Sai applies color layers too. I just wished someone would take all the best elements from each application and pile it into one. I mean seriously I have bought Corel Painter, Photoshop, Paint Tool Sai, Artweaver, Sketch Book Pro, Open Canvas and Art Rage and each one always does something better than the other...gets annoying.

Yes, this is familiar)) Wanting to do art professionally you end up overwhelmed by different tools) It is distracting to swith programms in the middle of work, but what can we do?
And thanks) i will try that technique out

Can you give more details on this character's background, or is that up to the character's owner?

Hey Justin I actually don't know too much about the character, just by what Nina described how she looks and just a little bit of her personality. I believe she's part of Nina's (*Prussian )fanfiction.

Wow. This is very emotional. I like the way to sketch out the back rounds. Very well done. I also love her hair and the people in the back. It's simple, but great.
