Description
A request from , Tony Stark in his Silver Centurion version of the Iron Man armor and the dude at the bottom is a Cold War era Iron Man villain, the Crimson Dynamo. All of the Dynamo armors were pretty ugly, but I always preferred seeing Stark fight guys like them over say, The Mandarin.Related content

Ugly Dynamo(?), well was ANYTHING Soviet(era) made EVER pretty(to anyone other than even themselves)? I mean Most of their stuff was pure function, and well Form was THE function. It was a fairly accurate portrayal of Soviet era Russian design ideas, but hey every Hero/Villain has their 'Ugly' period(Ever See Captain America's 'Nomad' outfit?(Hint: he tripped over the cape))

Iron Man versus any villain in armor, like the Crimson Dynamo, was like watching knights jousting. Sometimes they seemed evenly matched, until IM finally wins.

Exactly! That's why the armored villains were the most fun in Iron Man. I never was a Mandarin fan.

Thanks, buddy! Y'know, what I found really hard about this piece was taking two outdated and obsolete armors and making them feel cool in my eyes without really changing the design.

Yeah, exactly... I really need to learn to develop more patience. I have no prob spending ten hours on pencils but when I have to sit down and ink it all it feels redundant and annoying!XD

Thanks! I also considered the titanium man, but I didn't use him cuz his armor is the most boring design ever! There's nothing distinctive at all about it!

You know the production crew on the movie actually had Iron Monger listed as Crimson Dynamo in all the production art/concept/storyboard et cetera. I thought that was kinda cool.

Hey now, that is cool to know. Y'know, even though Dynamo had an ass-ugly armor design he used to be one of favorite I.M. enemies because his motivation was clear and his armor was distinctive, I felt Stark needed more enemies like that. High-tech, but with very distinctive looks. Guys like Whiplash? Spare me. The Mandarin? In my opinion, Iron Man doesn't work with quasi-mystical junk like that.

The Mandarin story from the Iron Man animated movie worked really well, but yeah, as an actual villain for Tony I've never been big on the guy. Mandarin is more Strange's territory if you ask me.

One issue I remember had the Chrimson Dynamo and Stark's brains switched. Stark found out that the CD could access it from his wrist watch. Never did quite figure out how that worked.
