Description
A fun project where most of the modelling was done in Zbrush (first model from Zbrush really - still a learning!) the clouds and the final render was modo. Photoshop used a little as well to add the sun. Hope you like it.Related content

Thanks Is Zbrush easy to learn - hard to answer (and I am no expert I should make clear!). If you are used to another 3d app like Lightwave, 3DsMax, Modo, Maya then it is very different and will take a while to get used to. You can many things in different ways - it's kind of a system and has huge capabilites. When you are in the swing I think Zbrush is faster/easier to create a lot of things (hard surface and organic) than other 3d apps. Check out the forums at Pixologic and have browse through - should give you a feel for what it can do. There is a load of free video training there as well that will give you a good feel how Zbrush works. Also check out www.badking.au for some ace tutorials.

Thank you Although when you get into the swing, Zbrush makes it a bit easier I have to say!

Zbrush is a complete mystery to me though I wouldn't say I'm that experienced at modelling in Max Looks good and for my money you got the lighting just right (though to be fair, I've never actually been to Venus...yet!)

Yeah Zbrush is very different to anything I have used before (LW, Modo and Imagine LOL!)but very powerful - in the right hands anyway. Taken me a while to get into the groove of the Zbrush system, but I do think it is worth the effort. Some of the stuff people do with it is amazing. Thanks for the comment about the light on Venus, wasn't sure if I had overdone it - did have to tone it down a bit in Photoshop after the render!

Well done (:
Was the entire object modeled in Z-brush?

Thanks Yes the ship is 99% Zbrush. I popped it into modo for a couple of vertex tweaks - mainly because I couldn't work out how to do it in Zbrush! Zbrush has a learning curve but doing this ship has helped me quite a lot! Still tonnes to learn
