Please know that you are not alone. Not only are you not alone feeling this way, you are probably surrounded by potential friends, things that make you happy or even opportunities. I think finding or rather pursuing happiness will always be an ongoing journey, but this doesn't mean that it can't be whatever kind of journey you like. Right now it seems you're making it an exclusive one with a lonely hero seeking to fill the void inside himself. Your character is resting and watching from a distance. Perhaps you are doing the same thing. If so, please try not looking too hard at the painted happy faces on the shells of these hollow creatures called humans. There are genuine, interesting, hearty, open-minded and lovely humans out there as well, but they usually don't go around and shove their painted happy faces into everyone's life. Instead, they spend their time with their friends and pursue the things they enjoy. If they look at others, they might get thoughtful or perhaps pity them, but they're not longing to wander amongst them, just as lost as they are. Instead, they turn to what is important to them and what their friends and loved ones like, trying to brighten up their lifes.
If you happen to wander without a destination, it might be a nice idea to watch a Kurzgesagt video called optimistic nihilism. If everything is made up by humans and thus doesn't have a higher reason for existing, everything is equally worthless and pointless. However, the beauty of this thought is that you get to decide what's important to you. Once you do figure out what brings a little light into the darkness, some joy into the cold heart or maybe a spark of enthusiasm and perseverance, follow these traces to their origins by all means necessary. On your first lonely way there I'm sure you'll make friends with people who are just like you figuring out what makes them happy along the way. You'll probably end up bringing happiness into the lifes of other people before you know it. The only thing you have to do is to take a step forward, even though it's pitch black. With every step you'll come closer to a light source and if you happen to like that light you can continue walking towards it. If you happen to not like it, back to the darkness it is. What is nice though again is that no matter in which direction you go, you'll always find light as long as you keep moving. So take a first step and a second one, don't give up and smile every once in a while
If I happen to be completely mistaken feel free to chat me up, I'll gladly listen to your story.

Thank you very much for your concern and well thought out comment. I really appreciate it.
I am honestly fairly content with my life. Though I may be a bit melancholy, I'm not deeply depressed. I'm just lonely for real companionship....

I can guarantee they're not though...but hopefully it's at least a good show.
The paw prints are a nice touch! I think maybe the mountains should have been a little more rigid at least, but it's still a nice atmosphere
