For 's 'impress me' contest. And for once it's not The Silver Brumby!

About time I did something Merlin related, seeing as I'm so totally obsessed right now. Love the show, and love the darker atmosphere for series 4!

But here's something that popped into my head while browsing the net one day, and happening to read about unicorns. They tend to come to noble young maidens, as the reading reminded me, and Guinevere's characterisation is as noble as they come, so it's not implausible to me, that while out picking herbs and mushrooms for her tea, she should sit down for a few minutes and look up to find a unicorn has found her.

This is probably the longest I have ever worked on a single piece, and my God. Could barley make coffee and hold a pen today, my fingers have siezed up! Let's hope it's not permanent There are things in this - the detail on Gwen's bodice-ish contraption was absolutely painstaking and took several hours in itself - that are quite small, hence it's enormous size. Downloading it is probably the best way to view it.
I have never put so much work into a pic. In about a week all the flaws will become glaringly obvious and I'll have a fit of the screaming abdabs, but for now I'm happy with this.

Photoshop 7, rough character sketches, mouse, various vegetation references. About 25 hours.
