My entry for the Stylized Animals Sept/Oct monthly challenge: Sun BearI'm not sure what spurred me to take the "serious" route for this challenge, but I ran with the rising sun symbolism and made this guy into a totem-like figure. The black designs were made with a 0.3 mm black pigment liner, then I covered the page with a very light orange watercolor wash. Lastly, I added the watercolor detail in orange and yellow. I used a straw to blow the colors into streaks

Thanks! It took me a lot of patience to finish this. It's my first full color full (almost) patterned tangle art piece. But I find the technique relaxing, so it was quite fun.

Thanks I did the watercolor nimbus in three stages (left side, top, right side) so I could angle the paper the direction I was blowing the streaks. That, and the multimedia paper I use is pretty good with watercolor

THANK YOU!! I really took my time on this, because I wanted to get the watercolor effect right sooo bad. It came out a tad variegated in some areas, but that seemed neat too.

Wozers! Well, I love that multicoloured effect, it actually looks as though you folded portions of your drawing where the yellow paint streaks mix with the black liner. It's awesome to say the least! This has inspired me to put a little more effort into my future uploads
