The top of its head is flat, and the top of its beak melds in with the top of its head. Ravens are also omnivores and love to eat road kill. They arn't really uncommon but they live in packs, unlike crows, which are scattered around.

What makes you think it's a raven (too lazy to get my book out)?
I thought it was a crow - not least because there are about fifty of these here on the rooftops - I thought ravens were less common.
