Having left rehab, Tessa is back at school and starting her senior year.
Her friends and teachers were quick to welcome her back, and aside from making changes to accommodate her disability, they treat her no differently than before (she even got after-school detention for being late her first month back, which she still grumbles about). Sure, she gets some stares every now and then. But her therapists told her to expect that, and they would usually be out of pity, or disbelief, or curiosity. Seeing a once-walking person now confined to a wheelchair may seem shocking to some, but Tessa learned that it's human to react that way. If it was the other way around, she likely would have stared too. But her injury completely changed her perspective.
Her body may be broken, but her brain sure isn't. Now, she's ready for anything (except maybe pop quizzes).
