Description
Today, it was a very hot, humid, almost suffocating summer day, at the end of which a serious thunderstorm rolled over the entire country. You could litterally see the storm front rolling overhead... it looked really weird, like a wall of clouds was quickly closing in and filling up the evening sky...Ok, you'll never again hear me say that the sky in Holland is completely uninterresting

I never would have guessed this was a "Holland" sky It's the sort of storm one would expect to see in central USA just before a tornad hits, very dramatic shot

Hehe, yeah, from the photo it looks a bit that way, but it's just a huge, wide, rolling cloud... still impressive, but far less destructive. Thanks for the !

Hehehe, I did quite the opposite, I ran inside, grabbed my camera and ran outside again We don't get much weather like this in the Netherlands, so I *had* to grab the opportunity to photograph a sight like this

Wow, even I cant give it a proper name. Its not a regular formation for clouds. Excellent Picture.

Definately not a regular formation, especially for the usually calm dutch sky

WOW, this is an absolutely amazing shot! I love how the trees at the bottom give it perspective as to size.

Yeah, it was really creepy to see such a huge cloud rolling over my head... made me feel very tiny indeed (the trees already look tiny, I guess you couldn't even see a person, had one been in the shot )

Perhaps there were some hailclouds, but in that case, the hail didn't come down... luckily, since I had my car parked outside

WOOOOOOW!
That amazing! It looks like a USA tornado-alley sky! You were quick to catch such a structure, they usually don't last long. How long were you able to watch it?
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
sturm In reply to sicmentale [2007-03-26 11:07:03 +0000 UTC]
Yeah, I've seen some documentaries on Discovery Chanel about tornadoes in the US and it indeed seems a similar sky. This wasn't a tornado, however, just a very large depression between hot and cold air that was passing all over the Netherlands. It all passed rather quickly, though; I was able to watch it for about 5, maybe 10 minutes tops before it had passed over our house.
Thanks for the comment and as well

this reminds me of a nightmare i had when i was 5 years old. a cloud, just like this... shaped like a sideways tornado, rolling back and forth threw the sky, following me. i ran to a house and to my suprise... no roof. i couldnt escape the cloud. apparently.. i still cant =op
