Wow! This is amazing! Chronia's weapon, her outfit, and Chronia's herself, the way you drew her, makes her look like she belongs in a Fantasy world of some sort, fantasies like Final Fantasy 4! The same can be said for this beautiful background too! I can see so much detail was put into this. It has a genuine anime or manga feel to it! Those fountains and floating structures are awesome! The sky and the lighting is superb! Congrats on the Daily Deviation!

...for some reason, she kinda looks pregnant to me... maybe it's the angle, or where the rig cage is positioned?
Anywho, this is REALLY amazing! Your art is absolutely gorgeous! Meow Meow

This has an incredible heavenly feel to it.Β I looked at the speed paint, I noticed you start off with the background.Β Interesting technique to keep the entire color scheme uniform.Β I usually color my forefront characters first; might be a mistake becuase then they sometimes don't match the background in their tone.Β I didn't see how you did your lineart though, it went too fast Β I noticed you sketched everything (on a tablet probably) directly digitally and then went on to refine the lines.Β Is the final lineart a whole new layer or did you just keep refining the original sketch until it got this clean?Β

I always try to color the background first even though I really want to start with the character But I think it's like you said, it's to keep the color scheme uniform.
About the lineart, if my sketch is clean enough, I would refine it (using brush/eraser) directly on the same layer and that'd be my final lineart... which is actually never 100% clean because it'd take too much time!. (I think I didn't include the refining part in my video, since it was going too fast)
Else, if my sketch is still too messy, I'd usually reduce its opacity, create a new layer and then I try to make a cleaner sketch over it. (I'll repeat that as often as necessary, until I have a sketch that is clean enough so that I can refine it to be my final lineart)
On a side note though, I never make my entire lineart on a single layer. I almost always separate the character's head, face, hair, arms, body and clothes. It makes it easier to fix in case of a mistake.
If I missed anything, feel free to tell me

Thanks for getting back to me ^__^Β Hmm, so you actually trace over the lineart with the mouse?Β Using a brush?Β Do you use a mouse or a stylus on a tablet?Β I noticed you transformed various parts of the image as you went along, making them bigger, smaller, etc.Β Very nifty trick ^_^Β I suppose it makes sense to make severval lineart layers for that.Β And do you then merge the lineart into one layer?Β You would, wouldn't you?Β And only then move onto the coloring.Β Which looked so awesome and easy the way you did it in the video!Β I guess you use lesser opacity for the brush right?Β And you add the lighting and shading pretty early on.Β It was most useful, the video.Β Thanks for making it.Β And do let me know if I've figured any of the above correctlyΒ ^_^Β It would be awesome to learn to draw like that.Β

Oh I use a tablet (Wacom Intuos 3).. It would be unthinkable to draw with a mouse! (Well, itβs possible, but the time it wouldβve taken.. phew!) And yes I use the brush tool.
Β I noticed you transformed various parts of the image as you went along, making them bigger, smaller, etc.Β Very nifty trick ^_^Β I suppose it makes sense to make severval lineart layers for that.Β And do you then merge the lineart into one layer?Β You would, wouldn't you?Β And only then move onto the coloring.Β Which looked so awesome and easy the way you did it in the video!
I think that depends. For me, I will leave my lineart layers intact until the very end. Because when I start coloring the character, Iβd notice new problems in the anatomy that I never saw before. So it kind of is convenient to keep the lineart layers intact and being able to fix the problem easily.
When do I merge the lineart into one layers? Usually when Iβm done coloring/shading the character. But it also depends on your style, so thereβs not really an answer for that (Sometimes I do merge it sooner)
In photoshop, you can change the opacity or flow of your brush. I always leave the opacity at 100%. Itβs the flow that I usually keep at 33% when coloring.
Thanks for making it.Β And do let me know if I've figured any of the above correctlyΒ ^_^Β It would be awesome to learn to draw like that.Β
Hopefully I didnβt miss anything

Wow, awesome answer!Β Thanks for taking the time.Β The process is starting to look more and more doable and less "magical" now Β Wacom Intuos 3 eh?Β I'll look into that.Β I bought myslef the first Intuos a long time ago, but I've used it twice... maybe three times.Β I bought the big one and that was a mistake.Β Plus the amount of time it would take for me to learn it keeps pushing me away.Β I'm an instant kind of person
Β Something either works and I can use it or it doesn't and I won't.Β But I suppose it can't be helped, some time needs to be spent on this.Β Maybe some tablet drawing classes or something...Β i look forward to that tutorial then.Β Thanks again!
