Description Β Didn't want to pay for a cheap nylon one, or the atrocious markup on leather ones. So I made one, it's not perfect, and if it was for a client I'd have done a do over, but works for me.

I'm also not dead, just had a run of everything being same old same old so was unmotivated to post anything, correcting that.Β

Blot action shotty, awesome! I didn't even know those existed.

Also love the shell holder, giving me inspiration for one that a coworkers asked me to make.

Curious though, how tight are the shell secured, do you gave issues with them getting loose while shooting?

Pretty secure as of now, we'll see how it fairs as the leather gets older. I made it extra tight, which is kinda a bother to get them out currently [in hopes of preemptively correcting the later problem when the leather breaks in]. So, as of now? No, no issues with them coming loose.Β

BTW, is that a JC Higgins Model 10?

Not the model 10, but the 583.17 which I believe was the predecessor? Could be wrong on that, haven't really paid attention to the old High Standard mfg save learning about this particular shotgun.Β

Well, either way, it's still rare, and still cool

It is, why when I saw it as only a barreled action sitting on the table at a gunshow [for $40] it came home with me. Getting lucky as hell finding not one but two stocks from a gentleman at another show a month later along with making a few internal parts that were missing when I bought it. It's a very fun shotgun, and you'll never see another one like it at the trap range.Β

Well like I said, when I found it it was nothing more than a barrel, a bolt, and a receiver. It was $40 because parts for these guns, though they are not expensive/sought after, are rare to none existent. I had to physically make a few replacement parts from machinist blueprints, as, there -are- no replacement parts for them.Β

My Stevens .410 bolt action shotty was a bucket of rust and parts. Here it is now: Β Yes, lol, I Hello Kitty'd it out, but! it works great (I just need to find a magazine for it)

Yeah I've seen those old bolt actions, all the mag fed ones. The mauser conversions, the production ones. Never saw a tube mag fed with lifter shotgun before until the Higgins.Β
