Description Working on some animation for my demo reel.

Pretty rough at this stage so I'm still currently working on it. Any suggestions or critiques are welcome.

Edit: 18/02/09
Edited the throw to emphasise greater weight.

Edit: 14/03/09
Started animating a second box for him to throw. There will eventually be three boxes overall. Still need to refine his pick up, and may need to add struggle to his turn.

Didn't do much editing to the first throw.

The finished one is gonna have three different boxes, so they'll keep coming, but in variety

Animation = the ability to defy proper protocols and natural laws

But yea, I should've made him bend with his legs. Thanks though

RollingEye In reply to ??? [2009-02-16 18:31:49 +0000 UTC]

It seems like he's moving too fast, no hesitation at all. I think it might look a little better if he strained just a little bit after picking up the box (like "Oh shit this is some heavy business"). And then what those other dudes said about the whole throwing nonsense, with giving the box a little more weight.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

SupaCrikeyDave In reply to RollingEye [2009-02-16 23:57:03 +0000 UTC]

Good points. Could add a bit more hesitation and anticipation when he picks up the box and balances a moment before throwing.

Thank you

Just awesome ^^

Maybe more surprise when he see the new box ...
But You're already working on it so good luck
... I can't wait to see the final one !!!!

Surprise would be nice, but I suppose I was trying to make it appear like a loop: constantly working over and over.

But thank you

poor guy, comdemned to lift crates and throw them off for ever...

Very nice animation.

Are you going to add sound?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

SupaCrikeyDave In reply to blue-beaver [2009-02-16 23:53:52 +0000 UTC]

Not really. It's just a short animation to add to my demo reel.

If I get bored, suppose I could always record me grunting and grumbling

Thanks

jaja xD ItΒ΄s awesome xD
i havenΒ΄t got anny sugestions, but when he throws the boxes, the movement with his right leg itΒ΄s a litte strange, you can add some more rotation on that leg...... but I think itΒ΄s perfect
I like it a lot xD

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

SupaCrikeyDave In reply to Falco-s-Smasher [2009-02-16 23:51:12 +0000 UTC]

The leg could probably use more rotation, yea.

Thank you

Lycos-Hayes [2009-02-16 14:06:19 +0000 UTC]

main thing I noticed... he has the power to remove details from anything he touches! the box has detail when he walks up, then the details vanish when he touches it

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

SupaCrikeyDave In reply to Lycos-Hayes [2009-02-16 23:49:40 +0000 UTC]

Yea, I've now changed it so the box remains blank. Originally I was gonna animate the crate details at the end...but it got tedious.

So now its blank

Looks good! my only suggestion would be to add a little momentum, making him pull the box back a tiny bit to gain balance to throw it

im not sure if i made myself clear, though

GemmaElaineArt In reply to ??? [2009-02-16 08:25:57 +0000 UTC]

pretty awesome (I'm sensing where the inspiration comes from..)

I think a bit more of a weight shift in your legs when you throw the box off to the side would be good.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

SupaCrikeyDave In reply to GemmaElaineArt [2009-02-16 08:34:20 +0000 UTC]

I think I'm gonna need to put in a small step when he turns to throw. Maybe add some "overbalance" for comical effect....More drawing is needed.

Thanks Gem

Mike91444 In reply to ??? [2009-02-16 07:51:39 +0000 UTC]

its good but the leg movement on the throw seems a bit un-natural maybe add a little step when he throws it?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

aha, i noticed the update.

the movement really shows the weight of the box now. good job
