I actually like this minimalist approach, as far as color is concerned. That way one has to see and focus on the people in the slides, not what type of clothes that they are wearing. Even more so, I truly love that we can see that the only colored things here are their irises. I'm not sure, but it is said that a person's eyes are their windows to the soul; basically, regardless of why or how we as humans tend to attempt to disguise what we really feel, either by force or for the sake of others, our eyes will not lie.
You can see how all three of them truly feel, just by how they look. Spike's is a little obvious, he was just woken up in the middle of the night to boot, so I can see a little bit of frustration in them, even if they aren't their shade of lime green (probably due to the artist, but it's cool). Rarity's has a little shine in them, as well as confused, because even though she gets to see Spike, truly relieved and happy to actually get in touch with him at that late time, she's a little freaked out that she even got Spike to help with her sister in the first place. She was apparently attempting to contact Twilight or possibly their mother. Sweetie's dark green eyes was just so innocent, but also want to make you weep. What is it that scared her so much that she had to get comfort from her older sister? It's almost inhuman to do something like that to a poor little cute girl.
