This looks really cool, really like the atmosphere in this one, the contrast between the foggy valley and the more rugged terrain in the foreground. C: And I really like the design of both characters. I don't know if you want critique or not but there are a few small things that can make this piece even more impressive. First thing is the composition, it's not the most ideal composition because it's it's almost perfect in the centre. It could help if they main players were moved a bit more to the left, with the dragon being coming more from the right. And you could make the dragon spirit larger as well, it would give more of an impact and gives of the feeling that the sorcerer is really powerful for luring such a large beast. Hope this makes any sense and I hope it helps a bit. Just my share of thoughts.

you are absolutely right about the composition. It's somthing that I don't realy think about all that much. I did start off with a thumbnail just to get some sort of composition but when i was doing the actual painting I wandered off and completely ignored the thumbnail . As for the dragon, I painted 3 dragons with different poses and different scales and i did start off with a larger one, however I felt like it was hurting the composition, so i scaled it down a bit.
Also you are looking down on the scene, and that angle could be why the piece looks less dramatic I think.

but thanks for sharing your thoughts, it certainly helps.

Don't u have that if u work in CS5 that everything looks look pixely. and when i see this it just looks to good?

My start resolution was 6000x4400 pixels with 72 dpi, then when the piece was done I scaled it down to 3000x2200. So if you work big enough, things start to look sharper and more defined if you add a lot of detail.
Or maybe you used a brush that just looks crap XD

Whoa. 72 dpi? Is that just for this speedpaint, or in general? I imagine if you printed 72dpi it might not come out very well. I could be totally wrong, but I've always been told to work in high dpi (300 dpi averagely). I'm just curious why you chose 72dpi. o.o

In general, you won't notice the difference between 72 and 300 on a pc-screen.
but your right, if I wanted to make something I whould print afterwards I whould use 300dpi.

ja met de muis kan het lastig worden natuurlijk, vooral omdat veel brushes met drukgevoeligheid van een tablet werken.
