Description My city, Hamilton, Ontario, Canada, has a bit of a reputation of being a lunchbucket town without much to offer in terms of art, culture and beauty. I am dedicated to proving that impression wrong. Hamilton has a wealth of treasures, like the beautiful and natural Bayfront Park. People just have to get out there and explore.

Agreed, my favourite will always be the view of the city from the Mountain Brow at night...absolutely beautiful when it's all lit up! Gorgeous picture.

when my friends randomly decided to drive down to hamilton (we were just driving aimlessly, and the decided "let's go to hamilton for mcdonald's!" like we have no mcdonald's in guelph..) they didn't believe me that there was a pretty park with lots of pretty water... and since i'm directionally challenged, I couldn't direct them in any which way to find said pretty park... but *I* know there's prettiness..even if no one believes me

wonderfully lovely photo

Hamilton is pretty peaceful and calm for a major city.
That being said, this captures some of its best parts.
I love the sharp transition and contrast of colours in this. And the exposed lights just add loads of depth for bits so small.
Great shot, Kev.

Stunning reflections. The sky is interesting in the way that the sunset light is condensed around the horizon, unlike most that have a gradient sky

superkev In reply to scoota269 [2005-04-29 04:13:17 +0000 UTC]

yeah the sun was just in the process of going down, to the right of the frame. it was doing funky things to the sky. i really hit the contrast and saturation on my RAW processing software to get this effect. thanks for the comment!

Such beautiful darkness and these reflections are just impressive. It’s so beautiful to look at and to be quite honest, at the look of this I feel relaxed, and my soul is tranquil. It’s just a very soothing photo, you know? Very nice long exposure, not too over exposed, which is a good thing, and good distance from the prime subject (the building) so we see the water and reflection. Beautiful color of the sky almost seems surreal, and the minor detail of the moon or star above. It may be a minor detail, but surely very important to the photograph in my opinion.

Canda I presume is lovely?

Hi Kevin! It's always a pleasure to look at your pictures. This one comes with a silent beauty that stirs the heart. The most impressive thing (technically seen) are the vivid colours.

This is beautiful and not at all representative of the stereotypical hamilton they speak of. I have to admit I had my own stereotypes about the city but you've shown me many beautiful sides to it

It's all about opening your eyes.

Thank you

unfortunately many of the stereotypes are made by torontonians who have only seen the ugly side of the city from the skyway bridge.

i do love this lens, but if i was in the market right now, i'd give some thought to the new 10-22mm that sigma's either planning or has already released. the 12-24 has a huge bulbous front element that makes me nervous because there's no way to protect it. also, it's prone to flaring if strong light is coming in from the side. i think the 10-22 is flatter in the front.

My city, Adelaide has a similar "Dull Place" reputation too, so I sympathise

this is a wonderfully serene view, from the tiny crescent moon to the reflections in the water, and that warm glowing divide in between
splendid stuff, and nice to see some of your city Kevin

I really like one. The sky goes from cool blue to warmer tones and then we fall into really cold blue waters. The colors of the horizon match the colors of the lights on the lamp posts making everything fit together so nicely. Having the moon adds that extra little bit that is needed, otherwise the sky might seem pretty dull. Very nice capture of the moment!

The art is not in the place you go but in where you try to find something artistic, don't you?

And this shot is Art, even anyone still says your town has nothing artistic to reveal, you find it's
