EDIT: I just added the music version to DeviantArt ^^ Hit "S" on your keyboard to play it, then "X" to turn it off.
Use the LEFT and RIGHT keys on your keyboard to flip through the pages, and then use the UP key to return to the table of Contents.
IF THE KEYS DON'T WORK then just click on the image first and THEN use the keys.
Some of you might wonder why I didn't just do the Sora picture in the coloring tutorial... well... I wouldn't be able to do the whole perspective talk that everyone keeps asking me about XD Happy reading, I hope it's not too confusing.
I had some help with this one, so... I'd like to thank my boyfriend just cause, then some of my friends on my FFXI Linkshell and my Coworkers for helping me proofread and dealing with my frustrations @_@
And super super super thanks to all of you guys for your support

You used SAI for inking (sorry I didn't read all of it! It's kind of wordy ) ? Well, what if I only have photoshop?
And I don't we have epson scanner... D:

oh haha ^^ The tutorial is all the experience and knowledge I have with lineart so I include many different methods. I haven't used a scanner in 6 years, but a lot of people still do. I use SAI for inking, but you can really ink in any program. Since you didn't read all of it(it's totally okay!) I did demos with Flash, showed how to ink with Photoshop, and SAI. The only art method I focus on is just using the thicknesses of line to express shape and form. I just find SAI the easiest.
Basically the program you use is all a matter of preference. I have shakey hands so I prefer the more point-by-point, architectural drawing that SAI offers. But you might find the looseness and more flowing, expressive style of Photoshop better for you

I bet you're really experienced then!! (considering you have used a scanner in 6 yrs..)
This is only my second year on the tablet, some I'm not *as* knowledgeable.
Thank you for replying! But I have yet another question! said Count Bleck.
Do you paint your lines or use the pen tool? Because I tend to paint it, mostly because it's easier. I know most pen tool it, but I was just wondering what you do.

suzuran In reply to Kishex-Nevarx [2012-06-02 03:22:39 +0000 UTC]
haha, not really experienced, just used to it XD plus drawing digital is much cheaper than spending money buying paper and pencils and stuff
When I used Photoshop to ink, before I used SAI, I actually painted the lines. I know a lot of people that pen tool it too! but the pen tool drives me crazy after using it for a long time so that's why I prefer just using the paintbrush and erasing. XD

Where is the final version of X and Zero from this tutorial? Do you have a finish version of it
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
kar10 In reply to suzuran [2012-05-31 20:12:21 +0000 UTC]
In your tutorial at the section where you explain the image size you have the following settings 4268 by 2748 pixels and document size 10.67 by 6.87 and 400 PPI.
Are this your settings when you completed the the final version. Your final version seems to have a different document size

oh you want the actual final file! haha, I haven't uploaded that online. I usually wouldn't hand it out unless people hold interest in coloring it. But yes, those are the final dimensions

kar10 In reply to suzuran [2012-05-31 22:11:53 +0000 UTC]
No, I don't want the final picture. I'm only interested to know what type of settings you used in image size and document size.

suzuran In reply to kar10 [2012-06-01 02:46:14 +0000 UTC]
Oh okay! Sorry for the huge misunderstanding The final turned out to be: 4260x2733 pixels, 400 DPI
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
kar10 In reply to suzuran [2012-06-01 12:54:45 +0000 UTC]
Thank you for the info
Have you ever done work higher than 400 dpi? Have you tried 600dpi
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
suzuran In reply to kar10 [2012-06-01 13:30:49 +0000 UTC]
I have! But, I set up files for the colorist and letterer for Marvel comics. We actually do save a 600 DPI high res version of the black and white art, but we've been drilled into our heads that 400 DPI is the better, safer number. Cause we only print files up to around 300dpi, so there's really no reason to go that much higher ^^

I can't draw, but I do want to try perspective drawing now. Possibly 2 point (3 points and up seem like madness! @_@)
Also, once again, loving little Wave there! Wish I had a personification that adorable! (although seeing as I'm a guy, maybe adorable isn't the right word. XD [Not that guys can't be adorable, just don't think it'd suit me {I like having sub-parenthesis notes}])

Yep! Bingo I do other stuff too, but yeah one of my main responsibilities is putting the logo onto the art. Sometimes the artists don't leave room, haha so that's when we get a little creative. XD

suzuran In reply to IntelligentWolf [2012-05-27 05:32:36 +0000 UTC]
mm, not really It's always lots of fun just cause I love looking at all the different art. Though sometimes it gets really frustrating XD Get lots of internships when you go to college to have lots of fun doing Graphic Design in companies
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
IntelligentWolf In reply to suzuran [2012-05-27 19:09:23 +0000 UTC]
Glad it doesn't get boring Which comics do you work on, is it specific like only Fantastic Four or X-Men, or is it every single Marvel comic they have?
I'll try to get internships, one of my teachers from high school said that internships help a lot, and the classes we have I think the professor said that we get to create designs for different companies(at least I think, I haven't talked to the professor in a while )

suzuran In reply to IntelligentWolf [2012-05-27 22:36:24 +0000 UTC]
Yeah, we do covers by "office" Interior design stuff randomly haha. I do almost all the X-Men and Hulk stuff XD
yeees! that's great and internships doesn't feel like work yet either, just lots of fun and you learn so much more than school XD
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
IntelligentWolf In reply to suzuran [2012-05-28 03:56:48 +0000 UTC]
That's awesome I bet you still have to buy the comics at the stores to read them? XD (If you get them for free I will be so jealous!!)
Cool, but aren't professors those who work in the field anyway? This is so confusing XD
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
suzuran In reply to IntelligentWolf [2012-05-28 04:06:55 +0000 UTC]
...um... haha. XD we have lots of comics around the office all for free @___@
Though weirdly I prefer to read them all on the computer now XD Saves space.
and there are some professors that work in the field ^^ we have a lot of freelance artists that are actually college professors too, since comics don't really pay that much, they have to find jobs elsewhere XD
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
IntelligentWolf In reply to suzuran [2012-05-28 04:18:29 +0000 UTC]
Luckyyyyy
And I have a bunch of comics laying around on my bookshelf Most of them are my dad's comics from the 60's he used to get XD My chemistry teacher is going to get my twin and I a subscription or account thingy on Marvel.com for us so we can read comics in college! He's so nice
And a giant Marvel fan too
(he has an Iron Man helmet in the class room XD)
Wow, how much does comics pay if they have to get professor jobs? Or does it depend on the level you work at?

I only use SAI for lineart, but I use Photoshop for literally everything else, the sketches, the colors, etc. ^^
