A Mother's day
Full of sunsets, flowers, and little one's.

Yey! And it's a happy ending to our Vanner foals story! Now Shekinah Valley has two baby Vanners to keep track of! Lilith foaled about a week and a half after the orphan foal was born. It couldn't have been planned more perfectly. It gave us enough time to make sure the orphan foal had it's strength up and was healthy. Then Lilith had her foal and then we gave that foal a few days to suckle and get it's colostrum up and bond with Mommy.

When we introduced the orphan foal to Lilith and her foal, the mares happy-go-lucky personality was a huge advantage. She didn't even bat an eye at the spotted foal. She just nuzzled it to get her scent and when it and her baby started playing, she just continued grazing. No hiccup whatsoever.

We are giving both foals supplement milk to make sure they both are getting sufficient nutrients and to help Mom out a little on the job. Lilith is getting top quality daily grain and hay as well. A many thanks to Winter Acres owned by ~billygoatsgruff for letting us keep Lilith on the property to nurse both foals. Lilith will be going back home once both foals are weaned! Now to get to some shows and update some other vanner refs, and make a tutorial, and do a whole bunch of other stuff. There's just not enough time!
