Hello once again! Here we have another commission, this time the piece is from Alexander-LR depicting Zelda from A Link to the Past/Between Worlds against Zelda from Twilight Princess, ready to have a match as ALTP Zelda wants to prove herself as the definitive Zelda in Smash Bros by defeating the previous Zelda (TP) in fair no magic fist fight boxing match. I might do a story for this one if I have the time for it, there's also one with alternative colors! I'm to post that one later or tomorrow. This one might seem familar to some of you, that's because it is! It’s cool how a lot of people like putting different Nintendo characters in different scenes through their imagination like sports or racing, really creative. Especially in this scene, which is cool in how it conveys the match between the 2 Zelda’s. It shows ALTTP/BW Zelda trying to prove herself. What I like in this art is that from what I’m seeing is TP Zelda will gladly accept this challenge from ALTTP/BW Zelda, because I think she is curious to test how strong ALTTP/BW Zelda is given the smirk on TP Zelda’s face. In TP Zelda’s mind she wants to test ALTTP/BW Zelda to see if she has the potential to be the definitive Zelda in smash bros, but looking at ALTTP/BW Zelda she looks to have a stubborn thinking of “I can do this” mindset. In the end, I think TP Zelda wants to teach her potential successor the meanings of victory and defeat. So whether TP Zelda wins or loses, this is a gift of her passing on a lesson that may be bruising, but critical to her potential successor’s future. If I had to decide, I wager TP Zelda is the more likely to win, due to how she was the only version of Zelda in 2 smash bros games, 3 if you count the 3ds version a separate game, so TP Zelda being a hardened veteran in smash bros more than OOT Zelda, she’s got more going for her. The color of their attire matches the 2 Zelda’s of their respective games, a really nice piece.

That's some great deep analysis for one single drawing! Now it's my turn to write an essay!Kidding aside, I really appreciate you taking your time to write all that for a single piece that I didn't even draw. That was my original intention when I commissioned this. One difference off the bat with the Smash Bros E3 announcement was how more lively the new Zelda was compared to the TP incarnation of Zelda in Smash. I really liked the stark contrasts between the 2, even though TP Zelda will probably never be in Smash Bros again (unless they include DLC/EX costumes for fighters) are their personalities, ALTP/BW Zelda being more energetic in battle with her new animations and TP Zelda being more calm and collected without her changing her expressions that much in battle (almost like she was in TP, the few times she appears in that game). With the clash of personalities, I thought it would have fun to see a potential fight between the 2 incarnations as to see if ALTP/BW Zelda is ready to fight the top tier characters such as Isabelle and the Inkling girl. Also as a passing of the torch, before everyone forgets that TP Zelda was the definitive version for a while. I also really liked the color contrast, almost every Zelda incarnation after ALTP used that Zelda's design and colors until TP Zelda using purple (a nice contrast to the pink most Zelda and to Princess Peach in Smash Bros) and for being the second brunette after the original Zelda. Hey thanks, I took art classes so when I look at art, I remember the lessons I learned in class. So when I see a painting or drawing, I see what the scene is conveying through: color, atmosphere, what goes on in the scene, character expressions, etc. I thought it was cool that this scene portrays the 2 Zelda’s fighting each other. You can even say that ALTTP/BW Zelda is doing what TP Zelda did. Im sure TP Zelda had to prove herself against OOT Zelda to show she was the definitive Zelda, and for the record TP Zelda is descended from OOT Zelda. So it would have been “Great Ancestor vs Great Descendant”. Kinda how TP Link is descended from OOT Link and he would have had to prove himself against his ancestor.
