I like what's starting to happen here. The branches progressing to veins around the torso is a pretty nice idea. I almost wish it were just the ribs and the branches/veins and the brown sky. If you cut it off right around where you stopped drawing the neck you might have a tighter composition, and if you left the torso outline out I would have more room to mentally play.

Hi there, this is not bad, I saw your comment on Clement Teo's page and that's how I got here. How did you use the tea and coffee? Smeared out on a piece of paper to get the nice background?

you can brew tea and coffee and paint... which is what i did for the most part.
OR
you can brew tea and coffee and smear the bag or grounds around...
using a paintbrush allowed me to get the drips and a lot of control with less noise. using the bag and grounds gives you some noise. i'll put the background in my scraps so you can see...

Oh, I didn't know that you could brew tea/coffee and paint together, cool. And thanks for showing the background, helpful. Is it painted on a canvas?

nope. i did a draft on crappy paper that is actually for disposable palettes. but after i did it on heavy cotton paper. i took a picture then used warp in photoshop to get everything exactly right. it's essentially like painting with watercolors because it's really thin, and it takes a lot to get different values. it's fun though. oh, and are you just curious or are you planning on doing something with it? it probably won't stay on gessoed canvas... and bare canvas might just absorb it. i'm not sure.

I'm mainly just curious, could be interesting to try out some time though. I think I would have gone for plain paper as you did, and I think coffee would be better than tea (as you can make really really strong coffee with very thick black colour.
