This is my first real film submission here on DA. I finally got the rigth to post movies ^_^
So here's "Traces" my final year film created at La Poudriere (France).
Traces was in competition in the Anima Mundi film festival in Buenos Aires and Rio de Janeiro, in the Krok Film Festival (Ukraine) and also in Anima film festival in Bruxelles.
Traces obtained the price of runner up in the Animex film festival in the 2D computer graphics category.
Animation technique is all 2D with the help of a morphing software and composited in After Effects.

Wow, thanks for the link. That looks like a lot of work @_@ I like the mood of it. I think you'll have a good chance to be selected in a few festivals. ^_^ Do you know of the Annecy Animation film festival ?

well yes, doing everything on my own was lost of work and 3 months of no partys or BBQs eventhough the weather was great! hehe. when i am done deleting the flaws i was thinking of sending it to some festivals and perhaps even Arte.
oh and yeah, sure! I know Annecy! ive heard so much and seen a lot that i think mine wouldnt stand a chance of even being screaned ... yours looks far more high end then mine and would def. be shown there!

My film has been shown in quite a few festivals but it didn't make it in Annecy 
Too many French movies in competiton maybe
Your film has a good chance, believe me ! Just finish it nicely and send it to all festivals around the world !!
Try the Krok Festival, Ukrainian festival, on a boat !!! I did it and it was so cool !!

Even though this was produced years ago I'd still like to know how you pull off those morphs in After Effects.

The morphs were made with a separate morph software. A very basic free one, where you have 2 images, you place vectors on one and then place the same vectors on the second one and then you simply choose how many frames you want. Was not ideal but efficient enough for the time.

I agree with Sudak about the sound. Once something sounds repetitious or even louder than it would be in reality it takes the viewer out of the story.
I wanted more out of the ending....maybe more expression from the alien? I, also, thought the walking around in the desert took too long. It's fine if we are looking at something interesting but when it's just desert and wind...it might as well be the same frames looped.
Anyway...I thought it was good overall but could be really awesome with some more polishing. Thanks for posting!

You need to ask DA directly. Fill in a form etc ... I know it's wierd but that's how they do it. Check the help desk for details.

WOW very nicely produced I must say. My only critique would be the shuffling sound you use in his clothing seems very repetitive and a tad too hot. Possibly having recorded a few more versions of the sound itself and using more then the few that are used? I'm not a sound designer so this is just coming from what stood out to me.
Animation style was awesome. I loved it.
