Buzzer, a G1 Summer Wing pony, sits in a crooked tree and envies butterflies.

I was inspired somewhat by my cat, who likes to chase butterflies. He's this big blue-silver bundle of fur, and he tries to sneak up on butterflies, oh so craftily, then does the obligatory butt-wiggle, and misses. Every time. Another inspiration is the burr-oak trees that grow in my neighborhood. I wasn't familiar with them before I moved to my current place, and their branches just grow at the most fun angles.

There are probably easier ways to draw foliage with colored pencils. Oh well.

I may have possibly gone to see an exhibit of French impressionists before doing this.
