Description Anyway, this is a OC redo of an old Cambodia.
Here is some historeh:
There is currently spare evidence of a Pleistocene human occupation of what is now Cambodia, including tools found alongside the Mekong River. For 3 centuries, the Indianized states Funan, and its succsesser Chelna, took care of Cambodia and Vietnam. She took land from India, giving it to now Thailand and Laos. Later, Grandpa Khmer grew out ther remains of Great Grandma Chelna after adopting the 4 in 802. In the 13th century, Sri Lankan monks introduced Theravade Buddhism to Southeast Asia. Its spread and eventually displaced  2 religions as the popular religion of Angkor; it wasn't the state religion until 1295. He was the larget empire in Southeast Asia during the 12th century. The power, was Angkor. Almost 9 centuries later, it was concluded that Angkor was the largest pre-industrial city in the world.
FRENCH COLONIZATION:
In 1863, Thailand sought the protection of France. Cambodia later became a protectorate of France from 1874 to 1953. She also administrated as a part of French Indochina (Her, Laos, and Vietnam), though it was occupied by the Japenese Empire. After King Norodom's death in 1904, France manipulated the choice of king, and Sisowath, Norodom's brother, was placed on the throne. The throne became vacant in 1941 with the death of Monivong, Sisowath's son, and France passed over Monivong's son, Monireth, feeling he was too independently minded. Instead, Norodom Sihanouk a maternal grandson of King Sisowath was enthroned. When Sihanouk was king, the French thought he was easy to control. They were WRONG, and when he was in power, Cambodia got her independence. (She still has a braid by him, though.)
INDEPENDENCE AND VIETNAM WAR:
Cambodia became a constitutional monarchy after independenc by Sihanouk. When the rest of French Indochina gained independence, she lost hope of owning the Mekong Delta, when Vietnam was awarded with it. The Khmer Rouge attempted invasions to get back territory, but failed. In 1955, Sihanouk abdicted in favor for his father to participate in politics and became prime minister. When he died, Sihanouk became head of state, taking the title of prince. In December 1967 a Washington Post journalist was told that if the US wanted to bomb the communist santuaries, he wouldn't object, unless Cambodians were killed. Members of goverment and army became resentful of Sihanouk's style as he tiltted away from the US.
KHMER REPUBLIC:
hen visiting Beijing, Sihnouk was ousted by a military coup led by Prime Minister Lon Nol and Prince Sistewath Sirik Matek. Once the coup was completed, the new regime, which IMMEDIATELY demeanded that the Vietnamese communists leave Cambodia.gained the political support of the U.S. Soon Khmer Rouge (told 'ya) rebe;s began using the king to get support.  As the Khmer Rouge gained control of the Cambodian territory, they imposed a new political infrastucture. Between 1969 and 1973, Republic of Vietnam and U.S. forces bombed Cambodia to try disrupting the Viet Cong and Khmer Rouge. Documents uncovered frpm the Soviet archives after 1991 reveal that the North Vietnamese attempt to overide Cambodia in 1970 was launched at the explicit request of the Khmer Rouge and nagotiated by Pol Pot's then second in command, Nuon Chea. U.S. President Richard Nixon announced that US and South Vietnamese ground forces had entered Cambodia in a campaign aimed at destroying NVA base areas in Cambodia. The Khmer Republic's leadership was plauged by disunity among its three principal figures: Lon Nol, Sihanouk's cousin Sirik Matak, and National Assembaly leader In Tam. In 1972, a new constitution was adopted, a parilament elected, and Lon Nol became president. The Communist insurgency inside Cambodia continued to grow aided by supplies and military support by North Vietnam. Pol Pot and Ieng Sary asserted their diminance over the Vietnamese-trained communists. At the same time, the Communist Party of Kampuchea forces became stronger and more independent of their Vietnamese partons. The governemnt made three unsuccessful attempts to enter into negotiatations with the insurgents, but by 1974, the CPK were operating openly as divisions, and some of the NVS combat forces had moved to South Vietnam. Lon Nol's control was reduced to small enclaves around the cities and main transportation routes. More than 2 million refugges from the war lived in the capitol, Phnom Penh, and other cities. On New Year's Day 1975, Communist troops launched an offensive which, in 177 days of the hardest fighting in the war, collapsed the Khmer Republic. Simultaneous attacks around the perimeter of the capital pinned down Republican forces, while other CPK units overran fire bases controlling the vital lower Mekong resupply routes. A US-funded airlift of ammutation and rice ended when Congress refused aid for Cambodia. The Lon Nol government in Phnom Penh surrendered on April 17, 1975, just five days after the US mission evacuated Cambodia. (Dun dun dun)
KHMER ROUGE OCCUPATION   STOP: THIS IS A CONTROVERSIAL PART OF HISTORY; VIEWER DISCRETION IS ADVISED .
The Khmer Rouge was a communist party that executed a mass genocide of Cambodians, seperated young children from their families and other horrible atrocities against Cambodia's people. They weren't even Cambodian, but North Vietnamese. The Khmer Rouge reached Phnoh Penh and took power in 1975. Led by Pol Pot, they changed the official name to Decromatic Kampuchea. The new regime modeled itself on Maoist China during the Great Leap Forward, immediatly evacuated the cities, and sent the ENTIRE population on forced marches to rural work projects. That attempted to rebuild  the country's agriculture on the model of the 11th century, discarded Western medicine and destroyed temples, libraries anything considered Western.
Estimates as to how many people were killed by the Khmer Rouge regime range from one to three million; the most commonly cited figure is two million (about a quater of the population) This era gave rise to the term Killing Forms, and the prison Tuol Sleng became notorious for its history of mass killings. Hundreds of thousands fled across the border to neighbor Thailand. The regime dusproportionately targeted ethnic minority groups. The Cham Muslims suffered serious purges with as much as half their population exterminated. Forced repatriation in 1970 and deaths during the Khmer Rouge era reduced the Vietnamese population in Cambodia from between 250,000 and 300,000 in 1969 to a reported 56,000 in 1984.
VIETNAMESE OCCUPATION
In November 1978, Vietnamese troops invaded Cambodia to respond to the border range of the Khmer Rouge. The People's Republic of Kampuchea, a pro-Soviet state led by the Kampuchean People's Revolutionary Party, a party created by the Vietnamese in 1951, and led by a group of Khmer Rouge who had fled Cambodia to avoid being purged by Pol Pot and Ta Mok, was established. It was fully beholden to the occupying Vietnamese army and under direction of the Vietnamese ambassador to Phnom Penh. Its arms came from Vietnam and the Soviet Union. In opposition to the newly created state, a government-in-exile referred to as the Coalition Government of Democratic Kampuchea was formed in 1981.
TODAY
Today, Cambodia is a blooming country in Southeast Asia. It had restored monarchy in 1993. Along with Myanmr (Burma) and Laos, it was to join ASEAN with them, but their economical problems stopped her. She joined later, though.

Personality:
Cambodia is darker than the other Asians, which she doesn't mind much except America's mistakes of her being a negro, but wishes that her Asian friends would stop meddling in her country. Everyone mistakes her for Laos, and they all think she is a master in karate, which makes her pissed. A mistaken girl who can't seem to live without steamed rice, she isn't the best when it comes to an ASEAN comparison.

Hi! I'm glad to see you do thorough research for your Cambodia oc, and I don't mean to pry, but image wise I just have a few questions. I'm just wondering why her eyes are bright yellow and what is that red thing on her cheek. But I do like her overall design it's much better than this-->  fuckyeahshittyhetaliaocs.tumbl… she isn't whitewashed and Khmer clothing is difficult to draw. Again, I really don't mean to be a bother

A scar (for you know what)
And the yellow eyes, is just a guess. I might change it to a brown.
