i actually think you hit it on the head before when you asked if it needed to be more 'alive' and i feel in retrospect you look almost vampiric due to either the lighting or an effect. With the 'features' thing ill have to remove it for portraits because it doesnt make sense for that aspect of your art and just look at the overall aethetics of the photo.

+: rich black lips set the photo and play as the major feature through contrast with your whitish skin....medusa adds to the frame and to the contrast with the lips....good shot which demonstrates a nice choice of angle and distance( no fuzzyness)
-: lacks a solid secondary feature besides the lips which dominate the frame....overall pale hue does not add to the photo but rather is simply there....
Overview: A good shot which reflects your ability to take and/or develop them and is a good attempt at the style. It screams lost potential with the ghastly hue and its portrait style limits it from the beginning overall.
