When they changed the titles from young boy to young man, I just knew that his innocence had gone. Yes, he went through a lot during season 5, but I don't think that anything had changed him more than Morgana's betrayal. Even with Mordred, he knew ir was coming so he shielded himself to stop himself getting hurt again.

so true...It did make me kinda sad to see how much Merlin changed in season 5 though. They made him a very bitter Person in the end. And I think that's a shame because Merlin showed us in the first seasons, that he truly had a heart of gold.
