Prometheus: The one movie that hasn't been made into a crappy MLP crossover. Anyways, nice artwork. It's grotesque and frightening, just like the Alien franchise.

1) This is a very nice piece of work.

2) To everyone and the creator of this image... The Deacon is not a Xenomorph, nor is it a relative of said species.
----
There is apparently some confusion over whether or not the Deacon is intended to be some kind of Xenomorph, largely brought about by the major script revisions made on Prometheus during development (originally, the Xenomorphs were to feature in the film) and as a result of the production team occasionally referring to the creature as an Protomorph or Proto-Xenomorph (terms carried over from earlier script drafts).

However, evidence suggests the Deacon is not supposed to be a Xenomorph breed, or even a progenitor to the Xenomorph race. A mural of a fully-grown Xenomorph, resembling a Drone, can be seen on the wall of the Engineer Temple on LV-223, indicating that the Xenomorphs already exist by the time of Prometheus. The film's co-writer, Damon Lindelof, has stated, "I felt that the punchline of Prometheus was going to be that there is human DNA in what we have come to know as the human Xenomorph." However, his key use of the word "was" confirms this concept was eventually dropped from the final film.

Other sources coincide with the above information. Yes, I am also intentionally spoiling fan theory. Why? Because the theories get more and more ridiculous with each passing minute. Thank you.

prometheus was made as a prequel to alien, explaining on how it began,it was made by the same maker of alien, the deacon is like the mother/father of the xenomorphs, theres the explaination XP

No. The Deacon is not the ancestor of the Xenomorphs. In the movie there is a mural of a Xenomorph drone in the Engineer temple.

I should apologize for my being rude, first off. I've been cooped up in my house for about 3 weeks.

Secondly, yeah. I personally don't want to know how the Xenomorphs came to be. It'd kinda be a turn off for that horrific mystery they invoke.

just a theory. but perhaps the deacon is like a master-mind xenomorph....perhaps, it figured out how to fly ships, and that's why they are all over the place (unless you include the predators from AvP, some say the preds are responsible for spreading them)

Synxthe1st In reply to myroflknife117 [2014-01-08 20:16:11 +0000 UTC]

That is... Ridiculous. Mostly because it isn't even a Xenomorph, seeing as there is a mural of a Xenomorph in the Engineer temple.

Xenomorphs are said to have been around for at least 10 million years.
The Deacon is a more recent creature.

According to Scott, the creature's name is "Deacon". Designer Neal Scanlan said that the Deacon's appearance had to reflect its complex genetic heritage: "It came from Shaw and Holloway, which then produced the Trilobite, which impregnated the Engineer, which then mixed its DNA with the Trilobite. We tried to hold on to some of Shaw, some femininity since it was born of a female before being born of a male." The designers based the Deacon's skin on horse placenta, in an effort to give it an iridescent quality "between horrific and beautiful". Its pharyngeal jaw was inspired by that of the goblin shark. When discussing the film's connection to Alien, co-writer Damon Lindelof asked: "Do you need to see a xenomorph bursting out of the human body? And how do we do it in a way that you haven't seen before?" Lindelof stated that whether the creature is a queen Alien, or the progenitor of the eggs found by the crew in the original Alien, is open to interpretation, but said, "I felt that the punchline of Prometheus was going to be that there is human DNA in what we have come to know as the human xenomorph." (paraphrased/quoted from Wikipedia)

Ridley Scott has a very creative and very twisted imagination. It is interesting how he tried to embody all the most disturbing elements of evolution into one creature. This was just the first, primitive xenomorph-I imagine it went through many more evolutions before it arrived at the design we are familiar with.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

VovinaArt In reply to dryan1982 [2012-11-10 04:08:31 +0000 UTC]

Well, Prometheus is set only 30 years before Alien so that'd have to be a lot of rapid evolution.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

dryan1982 In reply to VovinaArt [2012-11-10 04:27:47 +0000 UTC]

Considering that it evolved from a puddle of black goo into this in the space of one movie, I think that is very possible.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

VovinaArt In reply to dryan1982 [2012-11-10 07:19:29 +0000 UTC]

And seeing how they metamorphose by assimilating other organisms' DNA as embryos... well, for the Xenos to have been as mass-produced as they were in Alien (Ridley said the Engineer ship there was a warship designed to use the eggs as bombs) either more proto-xenos like Deacon had been discovered in the past or Deacon was immediately captured by Engineers and used to breed the classic strain of Aliens.

ii agree with Wynterhawke07, for all we know this could be the queen that lays the thousands of eggs inside the ship that you see in the first ALIEN movie.

CosmicVagrant In reply to Cpup100 [2012-06-16 12:42:42 +0000 UTC]

Ridley Scott already said Prometheus wasn't the prequel to Alien. It's a different planet, a different ship. This was just fan-service.

I don't understand the complaints either. It has already been established that the alien varies depending on its host, and this was the first one we have seen that came from an Engineer and a face hugger of that kind.
