Description
I want to do this more often. Just scribble down senseless stuff, not take everything so seriously, just draw more, not just at special occasions anymore, and things that require no rules. I kinda feel like that's my best way out at the moment. Please bear that in mind when pointing out flaws.. the purpose of this pic is not perfection.Anyway, now that I've drawn that creature I might as well give it a place in the world. It's a herbivore, forest dweller but other species for open terrain might exist. Since it's the food of even larger, more vicious creatures, it needs to be fast and agile and fearless. With its paws, it's able to climb trees and grab things to an extent, but also dig and tear at possible food sources. And it's not stupid, while not exactly smart at the same time.
Also it might be the genetic donor for at least one of my characters.
Ressources used were a few brushes by *AlectorFencer and a stock photo by =jocarra .

While it's super badass that someone mentioned the Hork-Bajir, this guy really doesn't look like one xD. This is BADASS though, man! That creature is NEAT! I love his patterning and the subtle blue gradient on his awesome head-spike things. Plus he has the neatest beaky face! I LOVE it! god I love me the background too. It's all soft and yellowgreen and pretty but it still has such lovely texture mmm. Buh I would love it if you drew things like this more often!

Thank you so much, Enaxn! You always know how to cheer an artist in crisis up.
Yes, I wish I could take the time and just let the ideas flow freely once in a while.

I love the anatomy of the paws -- specifically the dwarfed thumbs. It's not often anyone actually modifies hands besides adding/subtracting or moving digits, but in this drawing you appear to have actually changed the proportion. Nice originality!
I have the same problem with the drawing on occasions deal, but my work is of much less quality than yours. Excellent piece!

Ooo, fascinating monitor-like lizard critter is fascinating... Very fetching design, form and colorscheme - those headsail growths are especially eyecatching, too. :*)~

Excellent. This is amazing. The shading is perfect, the color is perfect, the background is perfect, and it smells like strawberries. (the last comment was a joke. But it is great.)

This creature will now officially smell of strawberries, just because that's awesome. Thank you very much!

Kind of reminds me of a Horkbajir(think that's how it's spelled) from the Animorph books. (3 great job!

pamala77 In reply to Tacimur [2011-10-29 23:46:01 +0000 UTC]
sorry. It's an alien in the books that looks very similar to the creature you have drawn. The only differences I can remember would be that Horbajir's have razor thingies along their arms and calves.

I've looked them up on Wikipedia now. ^^ Those things seemingly were bipedal, mine is a quadrupedal. Your thingies have blades everywhere, mine has none at all. Your thingies are unicolor brown-green, mine are patterned. Your thingies have sharp beaks that look like a bird of prey's, mine has a blunt horny insert that kinda looks like a Psittacosaur's. Your thingies have long, snake-like necks, mine has a short neck. I think the only _similarities_ from what I could read in the short time are the general reptilishness in combination with grasping hands and a sort-of beak?
