Description
Next thing I upload here will be detailed again, I'm sorry.Anyway, this was a funny thing that said.
Mafundi and ~tabalon were having a discussion about coincidence, and in that context Taba mentioned string theory. At that second Oli, who had been silent all the time, blurted out "I hate string theory!" which was rather curious for him to say.
But honestly, nobody likes string theory.

That scares me...even though today was the first time i've ever heard of it.

String Theory!
What kind-o-theory is that?

I say anything is possible until it is proven to be incorrect.
That of course means that dragons, boogie men, unicorns, poke'mon, little green men and all other manner of "non existant" things, exist until someone PROVES that they do not.

So the inexistance of Pokemon is true until it's proven that they're actualy existant?

don't you see it? your fatuous religion is dieing and the conclave with it. string theory is the only one who can help us by strangling the cerebrates with it's superstring-energies!

A few minutes later that post accidently fell into the hands of Ziltoid the Omniscient, who in his 4th dimensional omniscience got the idea to use string theory as a new weapon against the hyoomanz. What remained were willing worker drones who slaved on continent-wide coffee plantations to fuel his space-time bending machinery with the black gold.

then the flying spaghetty monster came around and killed him with its tentac.. strigs!
and all the infidel coffee turned in holy noodles and everyone (except christians, ipods, muslims, jehovah's witnesses, buddhists, khala-followers, hare krishnas, scientologists, pink unicorn followers, jedis, zionists, masters of the universe, mormons, baptists, gayniggers from outer space, plan nines (grave robbers) from outer space, satanists, rastafarians, super-inframans, yamagishis, sock puppets, creationists, trekkies [...]) lived happily ever after

String theory is massively cool. Quantum physics is actually really easy to understand if you take the math out of it and just look at the theories and how they connect, and how everything works.

Demonwulf In reply to Koeryn [2012-01-24 15:06:20 +0000 UTC]
The problem is, all the underlying theories are predominantly based on mathematics. It's hard to understand it (or defend it) without a firm understanding of the underlying mathematics.
It's rather why I dislike people who come up using String Theory to justify any number of crackpot theories, yet they can't come up with the math necessary to justify it.

Actually, there is no way the human mind can understand quantum physics. Any possible understandable image always falls short at some point.
The only way of grasping quantum mechanics is, well, doing the math. Sorry.

I understand everything that I've read regarding quantum physics and quantam mechanics, without touching math. It just makes sense.

FractalRat In reply to Koeryn [2007-05-30 19:20:54 +0000 UTC]
That might be because it's been pressed into a form that makes sense... and, ultimately, fails at some point to completely explain quantum mechanics.

I'm sticking with my vote that physics is something that just makes sense if you think about it.

FractalRat In reply to Koeryn [2007-06-02 19:17:04 +0000 UTC]
Usually, it does... as long as you're not dealing with quantum mechanics. QM is the kind of stuff that runs entirely contrary to anything a reasonably sane mind might think of -- after all, the only reason it was developed was due to mathematical anomalies in using classical mechanics on the atomic level.
