Description
A friend pointed out to me the weird fandom reception of "The Hunger Games" by a crowd that was a bit too fixated on Twilight. So during our last roleplaying session, I had the time to relieve my hurting head by drawing these scribbles.
... but really, I wish these books got more attention, unavoidable fandom drama or not.

Are you, like me, one of those persons who will turn hipster on a fandom once it gets too stupid and probably even lose interest in the original thing?

Catboy85 In reply to Tacimur [2012-07-24 20:21:55 +0000 UTC]
I really tend to take it on a case by case basis. If the original is good enough, I can look past the fandom and enjoy it for what it is. If on the other hand, I get caught up in the fandom and just enjoy the community as a whole, then I can rapidly loose interest in what started it all in the first place, when the fan turn to derp.

Regardless of the fandom, the consolation is that you get to hang out with cool people that you can enjoy for life. ^^ I like to take each step of life as an epoch of experience that all carry with me, so I find it's kinda hard to just leave something behind so what I do is just make the best of the moment and just make the sour moments better. Yeah there's a couple of people that can spoil the fun, but they're fleeting and they really don't matter in the grand scheme of things.
Always remember the fun times, bring them along and you'll just feel generally better with where ever you end up next.

There's still hope, at least with Ponies there's good moral background and genuine story giving it rigid support. That's mostly what propped it up in the first place and I believe that after a time, most of the craziness of the fandom will subside and just leave behind those who truly care about it.
That's what I see with the Pokemon fandom these days. Sure it's a bit more quiet, but it's only full of people that care about it and no one gives them flack.

Do you want to hear something wild. folks? Just for kicks and giggles, I read a website that suggested that authors set up the equivalent of "Club Bonechewer" and "Club Thakur" using their characters. The idea is to whip up fan frenzy using arguments on Facebook and Twitter between the two opposing sides and their supporters.
My jaw dropped almost as much as Bonechewer's did.
Don't worry, I'm not going to do that.

XD this is too good since it's about what happens in every fandom. But I love that craziness.
Also, I'm not gonna lie, the first tile is why I even tried Ratha. I'm a huge cat fan and just wanted to read all cat themed novels, came across Ratha and boom! Insta-love, and more than just for the cat appeal.

Haha, I'm not saying that only fans who don't care about the cats are good fans or anything. ^^ I came over from TLK fandom and a cat novel thread in a forum. But it's like you said - it's not your standard animal novel that has no layers below the obvious adventures. Take the second book, for example - that had me thinking for weeks.

I was actually coming off of.. well actually reading parallel to Warriors when I found Ratha. I was trying to bide my time between releases and saw Ratha on Amazon and said "Why the heck not." It was the first random book purchase I ever made without ever knowing what it was about (other than that I heard it was very kinda sorta similar to the Warriors' 'Clan' structure from the comments) but after reading it, it garnered it's own charm and I love everyone in it.
Also, Clare is awesome! She's now one of my favorite authors for being so close to her fans in this digital age despite her own age. And she's an engineer! She's just all kinds of awesome ^^

I <3 this! It's hilarious, but I agree with Viergacht that it's terrifying, too! One of the things I love so much about the Named series is that it has so much depth, and I shudder to think about it degenerating into Team Bonechewer/Team Thakur. Although, as the publisher, I wouldn't complain about the sales if it went viral, LOL.
Would it be ok if I pin this with attribution?
