Description Something I made a couple of months ago but didn't share here yet...

Made with Terragen 2 and used Ivy Generator for the couple of ivy's.
Models are from Xfrog and NWDAnet.com

Cheers,

Great, the lighting, the colours, the composition overall, well done. The only thing I have to point out in my eyes is the soil textures, more space for detail and the grass vegetation doesn't look natural on it.

The lighting and mood is amazing here, most TG2 scenes understandably focus on large-scale terrains, but I'll admit the use of plants here is equal to that of Vue renders (seeing how while TG2 is better with terrains and atmospheres, Vue still wins points for generating unique vegetation every time ) I could be nitpicky and say the grass-patches on the steep cliffs kinda look unreal how they rest on it, but Vue presents similar problems too, all in all it's a very rare "lush" TG2 render

That's not nitpicky, that's truth to me.
You're also right about Vue's ability to generate unique vegetation. Vue can't do this to imported models (say Xfrog for example), but only on native (cornucopia)models I'd guess?
Terragen does not have such a similar function.

Objects are being instanced and randomnly rotated on the vertical axis to make them look more random. You can also add variation in the size, by setting a min and max size.
Further you can also specify a fixed rotation on one of the 2 horizontal axes. Together with the 2 aforementioned randomnizations you can get very realistic results.
But indeed, not with unique variations in regard to leaves, twigs, branches etc.

Yeah, and I'll admit for the most part - Xfrog or OnyxTree plants do look better too, but Vue's are generally realistic enough, only up very close do they start to look a bit video-game like

Both TG2 and Vue can do that second bit too, the optional (but reccommended) rotating and resizing of actual models when scattered about too, I got some materials for buildings actually from Cornucopia 3D and the materials (like wall-paint colour) change colour with each instance too for even mor evariation on duplicated buildings and houses...I have no idea how it works, but it's amazing what these programs can do

Verry Impressive. Has a magical and realistic feel about it. i am a vue user though, never been able to bend my finger around TG2. Great stuff.
