Description

(drawn 3-20-19; made with MediBang Paint Pro)

Betcha thought I was going to have Luthien be Celegorm's ghost, but noooooooooo~!

Oromë may not be a ghost per se because he's not dead, but I figured he probably haunts Celegorm's memory at 2 in the morning anyway.  I always kind of wished we'd been given more details about their interactions, because the little bits we have are so tantalizing.  Heck, Oromë taught Celegom how to talk to animals and gave him a puppy.  Which is just amazing and then Celegorm kind of ruined it by leaving for Middle Earth.

Before I added the color-light effects, Celegorm's hair was more of an ash blonde (like it was in my drawing of him for last year's Fëanorian Week) but then that kind of fell apart so I sort of just went for an full-on redesign. I think I prefer my old design so I'll probably try to go back to that, but it was still interesting to see him as a platinum blonde.

(Celegorm and Oromë are from J.R.R. Tolkien's book "The Silmarillion".)

Wow! Orome! And he looks scary!!

To be honest I thought his ghosts was gonna be Huan, for some reason (him and Huan were friends for so long, it’s so sad they ended up falling out) but now that you mention it it makes sense: Celegorm was dear to Orome, he learned so much from him, and eventually he just...turned his back on him...
tsk tsk… sad.

And I like that celegorm here has fangs and braids and small trinkets in his hair.

Haha!  Well, he is a Vala after all.

Whoa, I hadn't even thought about making Huan a ghost...!  That would have been kind of cool too, and I think he definitely would have haunted Celegorm's memory.  I was really bummed when Huan died and honestly my first thought went to Celegorm because he may not be the most noble guy out there but...that's his dog that just died, dangit!

Thanks!  The fangs were actually a happy accident but I think I might include them in his character design from now on because it'd definitely be something unique to him.

wow, i love this!!
he looks so good and i love him sm. orome too, i think having his ghost there is a great idea, like i'd say celegorm probably sometimes thinks he sees or hears orome and then feels guilty and sad about the whole thing again

Thank you!

Yeah, I've always wondered if he ever felt guilty when he thought about Oromë.  I rather imagine he would have...

YESSS
what an amazing concept. And beautifully executed!!! Im still not over how excellently you draw ghosts. It so. Glowy but distant, but not cold. More nostalgic. Absolutely phenomenal!!! I love how you’re talking about headcannons a lot too this week. My descriptions are getting so long lolol. It’s hard not to want to breakdown their character this week!!! I just love reading your ideas and seeing your art!!! Getting both at the same time is awesome!!

I'm glad that that's the emotion that comes across because so far, that's what I've been going for.

Oh yeah, I have got lots of headcanons and until recently I havent really had anybody to tell them to.  I've been trying to limit myself with the descriptions so they don't get out of hand, telling myself I can always mention more headcanons on later drawings, but still the descriptions end up longer than I planned.

Honestly I love reading long descriptions, art tells such a story, and it’s so wonderful hearing the artists tale. I just!! Love it!,,
also if you ever want to slide into my notes/comments at random times and discuss headcannons I am here.
Practically every piece I post comes with a tiny pamphlet explaining my thoughts......

Same, but I don't know if everyone feels the same about the detailed headcanon descriptions.

Okay! I'll probably end up doing that sooner or later.

Well, that's probably better than the essays and rants that are always pounding at the door of my mind when I'm trying to decide what to put in the description.  Especially when it's an antihero or tragic hero in the drawing...
