Wow, this actually is one of my favourite pictures from you.
The impact is great to me since it immediately makes me feel a calm autumn wind while there are still warm sunrays around.

Technique-wise, the characters are executed in a very stunning manner: The lines are beautiful, the anatomy fine, the colors go along great together yet show variety and... THOSE. FACIAL. The only part that kinda irritates me about the characters are the wings of Alaric where the coloring overflows the lineart.

Concerning the background: I don't think it sucks. o_o
Honestly, it might not be as astonishing as the characters but still a neat background!
However, since you want to get better:

The tree sticks out quite a bit. To me it looks like an edited photo that was put in. This is mainly because the style looks quite different. While it has contours like the characters and brick wall they are set very differently, eg some of the shadows seem to have lines. Also the shadows are less soft and kinda remind me of cell shading. The edges of the tree are soft on the other hand which might conflict the harder contours. Maybe this effect can be softened by highlight edges that still let some of the tree's colors shimmer through. The way the tree stem bends (judging from the upper part above and the lower part beyond Alaric's wing) looks quite curvy for it being seen rather far above the ground. So, if it is actually from a photo I'd recommend trying to draw the tree next time in a similarly detailed way as the characters. Yeah, I know, trees aren't always the most awesome things to draw (They don't have an adorable face like Alaric unfortunately...) but it can really add a lot of extra quality to a drawing or painting.

The clouds on the other hand work pretty well I think. The forms look like they can work in real life as well. Since they are very soft and don't show too many details, they don't distract the viewer.

The brick wall is nice as well in my opinion. I didn't realize at the beginning that it's not completely orthogonally set but this lets the scene look more natural anyway. Its colors are very intense but in the positive sense, they make the image livelier. On a few areas the textures overflow the outlines again though. If that is on purpose it might make it more obvious if the overflowing happens more often in the image and maybe even in a wilder way. The shadows of the bricks themselves are rather thick which suggests that they stick out pretty far from the wall. This image might explain what I mean: www.genealogyintime.com/Geneal…
The photo shows that the brick wall looks nearly flat all in all. Of course it can be on purpose as well but I'd rather mention it though than leave it out.

Well, even you didn't draw the tree but your good at using texture, they're match and balance with the pic.  

The anatomy also get better and I like how you put the tree's shadow on the characters.

You also did really well in drawing both of them and their faces. and the bg isnt bad at all.

my favorite thing about this is the male anatomy i love how you draw the face shape!
