Description
A few people have been asking me recently for a tutorial on how I've been creating a lot of my pillows and sewing projects in the past couple of months. Now I'm happy to show you a basic tutorial on how I do appliquΓ©!
There are many other techniques of course (such as reverse) but this works good for me.
This technique works best with two colours only.

Great tutorial but could you do it without the fabric stabilizer?

If you are using a satin stitch to finish, I wouldn't recommend doing it without stabiliser. Your fabric will start to wave and pucker if it's not used.

Would you recommend anything that would be an alternative to the stabilizer?

I can't say I've ever tried anything. It's quite an easy thing to get hold of in craft shops or haberdashery sections. It's easily purchasable online as well.

Awesome, I canΒ΄t wait to try this out!
By the way, is there something you could recommend as stabilizer or substitute for a stabilizer?
I canΒ΄t seem to find anything in German shops or maybe itΒ΄s called differently =/

It can sometimes go under the name embroidery stabiliser or sometimes Stitch n Tear (this is a Vilene product) so perhaps try one of those?

Glad it made sense, you should give it a go sometime though. Everyone can improve once they start using a sewing machine, it's amazing what they can do!

It's amazing how much depth the second stitch adds to it.Β
Last time I worked with fabric was in home economics 4 years ago and I really enjoyed it. Might have to start giving this stuff a go!

Thank you! The second stitch is the most fun, but also the most time and thread consuming!
