I got my own Bagbean!!! 8w8 I knew his rough personality before I got him, so once I recieved the design I thought I should settle down and sketch him up a few times, figure out character proportions and try to match it to the character better. As you can see he has a lot more sharp angles in his design. He's also a bit longer, has a longer neck than most, and sharp features like the claws, teeth, hair, ears and even things like the feet are exaggerated to look sharper.He is a floral Bagbean, based on the Helleborus flower, and his name is Julian. He's a little reckless soul, very mysterious, and pretty brutish and unkind to other Bagbeans. He prefers to venture forests and be wild and free than to settle down anywhere. I have something planned for him in the future, but I won't tell what it is >v< not yet

I feel like the most important bit (especially for DTAs) is just to show how much you truly want that character and put your heart and soul into getting as much out as possible for it in the time given. Of course it isn't everything ;;A;; but it certainly raises your chances. I think the DTA holder would be more willing to give the character to someone they know will use it rather than someone with good art who won't use it.
The only trouble with that is trying not to get attached to the character in that time TTvTT;; haha
Oh, and for other contests... I think the best way to impress the judge is to do something that other people aren't doing, try to do something unique. It doesn't even have to be complicated, like... I won that icon contest I think because I put more focus on the character's expression, rather than just fitting the character in and leaving it at that. At least that's what I think? xD
