Description
Yet another piece of anamorphic art, also known as 3D-art.Nothing much to say, I only wanted to draw something. So, I rendered a 3D Jet model on a bent A4 using "Element" plugin on After effects CC. It turned out to be great for such stuff! One can add shadows, play with the camera's point of interest and even the aperture size for a virtual depth of field, if wanted (which I avoided).
Ah, right, so...
A4 Paper
2H, 2B, 8B Faber-Castell
Blending stump
Normal Blocky Stupid Eraser (I hate you)
Scene setup using After Effects CC
Scanned, bent into perspective, background added, and colors fixed a bit using Photoshop CS6
About 12 hours (including editing) - over 5 days (Yea, getting lazy and trying to enjoy my self-proclaimed holiday) xD
As noticed, it is hard to match the 2 computer-cut parts together and get the perfect look. Also, the corner where the paper is bent unavoidably takes more graphite, so one can notice the dark shadow there.
On a side note:
Once one improves a bit, it becomes stressful doing pieces along the road. Yes, I'm talking about personal expectations. One has to keep up and keep having fun at the same time. After all, the piece is as good as the effort put into it, so I'm not gonna upload perfect artworks all the time.

Amazing, you must teach me how to go about making the proportions for anamorphic drawings that use 2 pieces of paper!

Thanks! Sure, anytime you have any question to ask, just go for it.
But, to sum things up:
1) Scene setup; bend a paper at midline, place an object on it (can be done digitally, aka photoshopped, but it must look like it's sitting on the paper), get a camera, and find an angle of view where all the object borders are visually within the "white" area, "inside" the bent paper border.
2) Creating the distorted image; get the photo you took, (now this might be difficult to understand without an example, but I'll try), open a new A4-sized (because I use A4's) Photoshop file, open the photo, too. Now the trick is to cut the A4 in two imaginary halves, and cut the photo too where the paper is bent, as each part will project differently on the paper. Now, all you have is to expand (aka: free transform/distort) each half of the photo to the corresponding A4 half. Try to get the a perfect match across the bending line. Now, you should have a distorted image, and yea it looks uncool, but that's the way it should look like.
3) Draw; now that you have the distorted image, draw it on a normal A4 (as in the example). Try to be precise as hell. And always draw on a bent A4, so you can visually check if the illusion is working or not along the process.
4) Camera again; now that we have a drawn replica of our distorted image, we can bend the paper, and take a photo (from the same angle of view you took the original photo from, trying to get the original scene setup). Finally, you should have your object looking cool again in the photo. Voila, anamorphism!
(I usually do the last step by scanning the distorted image I drew, and have it bent/distorted back into it's original form using Photoshop, again. Then I add a background depending on the perspective... Just use your skill and have fun.)
I know it is hard to get this way, but I hope I helped.
Again, if you want anything I'm always willing to help or answer any question I know its answer.
Have fun learning it.

definitely. Have you ever tried this on a large scale, such as outside? I've seen some pretty cool photos of street art done with this technique.

Well, unfortunately no. But I've been thinking about it for a long time.
I still find it hard to get the paints and tools needed.
But, I'll do my best!

Yeah, I can imagine some of the larger drawings/paintings I've seen take a LOT of materials, not to mention planning and time.

I know you can. I've seen a couple of your works. Your attention to detail is great and it's all it takes.
You only lack the "How-To," and once you figure it out things will go smoothly later on.
I had to figure it out myself, I did my own personal study on this anamorphic art thing. There were so few tutorials out there, and not so many were willing to share the "secrets." xD
Things are now easier I guess. But, try to figure it out yourself. More fun, and more rewarding.
Trust me you can do it. Just remember I said so by then.
And Thanks very much!
